Welcome to the University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory

The University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (UKVDL) is a full service animal health diagnostic facility. UKVDL performs testing to diagnose animal diseases as well as to safeguard the health of the animal population in Kentucky, and may provide an early warning system for impending epidemics. Maintaining animal health and well being is part of the "One Health Initiative", and also fosters public health. The UKVDL also performs tests for regulatory purposes and animal export sales requirements.

  • Please Note!
    UKVDL does not accept live animals.
    UKVDL does not provide euthanasia services.
    UKVDL does not dispose of animals except in the case of a paid necropsy.
    Specimens become property of the UKVDL once received by the laboratory. Return of specimens to submitter is generally not permitted unless permission is granted by the laboratory Director.
