Rules for Accessing the WSU Wired Network

Note:
Violation of the 'Acceptable Use Policy' may result in your connection to the Internet being disabled. It is important that you read the policy carefully and understand what services and programs are not allowed on the WSU network.

Peer-to-peer sharing software and downloads are strictly prohibited on all Weber State wired and wireless networks.Your port or account may be disabled due to use of Peer to Peer file sharing software like Kazaa, Limewire, WinMX, Morpheus, Bit Torrent, etc.

Reactivating ports or accounts that have been disabled because of improper use may result in a charge to the student. Your access may also be disabled due to Virus activity. It is your responsibility to have anti-virus software installed on your computer and updated regularly.

Multiple or repeat violations will result in permanent deactivation.

Connecting to the WSU Wired Network

Because computers in the University Village Apartments are connected via a wall jack, students must have both a category 5 cable and an Ethernet port in their computer. Only wall jacks located in the bedrooms are active and connected to the University network. 

Configuring Your Computer

TCP/IP and DNS must be set to automatic (DHCP)

Most computers come with this as the default setting. However, the steps are dependent on which Operating System is being used.
