Bayard Rustin was a trailblazing, openly gay civil rights activist. and the architect of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s March on Washington.
Rustin introduced King to the precepts of nonviolence during the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which lead to the Civil Rights Movement in 1955.

RuPaul’s Dragcon 2016 tickets on sale

LOS ANGELES – May the fierce be with you.
The doyenne of drag says her RuPaul’s Dragcon is “Star Wars” for the gay community.
Tickets for this year’s RuPaul’s Dragcon, which will take place May 7 and 8 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, are $30 for single day and $50 for a two-day pass. They went on sale Friday.

Long Beach LGBTQ Center elects LaDawn Best new president

LONG BEACH – The new president of the Long Beach LGBTQ Center, who joined the board last year and has been working with the community more than a decade, said she wants to be more involved.
“I love Long Beach and am proud to call this city my home,” LaDawn Best said in an email. “I have decided that I wanted to be more involved because I wanted to be a part of and was inspired by the change that I saw happening within the LGBTQ community of Long Beach.”
