The Centre for History and Economics was home to three interlocking project-strands under the aegis of Coexistence, Religion and the Political Imagination. Each project adopted a distinct approach to the investigation of political organisation, ideas and practices within religious cultures of the past.

The projects encouraged people from different disciplines to get together and exchange and share ideas in a challenging and innovative comparative work.

The three strands of Coexistence, Religion and the Political Imagination were:

This project continued and extended work begun in 2001 and was run by Ira Katznelson and Miri Rubin

This project was run by Ira Katznelson and Gareth Stedman Jones
