My world is convoluted, random, and sometimes confusing, but it only matches all my roles in life: mother, student, teacher, artist, wife, daughter, writer. I love to laugh, believe in destiny, and try to see the silver lining around every cloud. Watching thunderstorms is a favored pastime of mine and I love living in a big city with lots to do. I don’t ever get to do any of it, but I like knowing it’s there.
Offensive Material = Grounds for Censorship?
This week, a popular blogger posted her letter to the board of the Romance Writers of America (RWA) because of a book that finaled in their prestigious awards, the RITAs™. The book was about a Nazi officer falling in love with a Jewish woman in a concentration camp. I can’t …

News! Pride & Purgatory has been making some waves
I announced this on Facebook and Twitter earlier this week, but my urban fantasy story, Pride & Purgatory, has been doing pretty good in contests. I recently learned it took second in the Fantasy, Futuristic, and Paranormal chapter of RWA‘s contest for unpublished manuscripts (On The Far Side). In addition, …

My Site Redesign is Complete! (and some updates)
Come by and say hi! The content is (mostly) the same, but the look is different. I’ve got new images, and a new tagline (courtesy of the incomparable Cecily White, who is more witty WITHOUT coffee than I am with a triple shot venti latte). As far as why I …

Setting new goals for 2013
I’m determined to get my mojo back. I have a story to write, and several to edit. And I can’t be sidetracked by life anymore. When I started writing, I wasn’t bogged down with a bunch of rules or an understanding of story structure or theories on what was a …

Blogging at Demons, Dreams, and Dragon Wings today!
I’m talking about story structure and Rise of the Guardians. I’ve been watching a lot of movies lately. This is not entirely uncommon, but the interesting part is that I’ve been watching them with an eye toward story structure. This is especially easy when the movies are PG-rated Pixar and …

In Which I Discuss Mythology as a Writing Influence
Hey there! Today on the Demons, Dreams, and Dragonwings, I’m talking about mythology and how various myths influence my writing. From Greek Mythology (constellation series) to Christian mythology (my new Urban Fantasy story, Pride & Purgatory), myths abound. Read more of my thoughts about mythology here
