Artspace 13th Annual Collectors Gala Artwork Preview!

Join us for a First Friday preview of the live and silent auction artworks for the upcoming 13th Annual Collectors Gala! The preview spotlights artwork from more than 80 local artists. Bidding opens for the Silent Auction at 7 p.m., and First Friday guests are encouraged to vote for the fifth annual People’s Choice award from the Live Auction artwork. Tickets to the Collectors Gala are available for purchase at Artspace and online. The Collectors Gala will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, and proceeds raised benefit artists, exhibitions, education programming and community outreach.

Linda Ruth Dickinson, a long-time Artspace studio artist, exhibits a new series exploring the relationship between the visible world and the mind’s eye. Many of her paintings display a desire to visualize horizonscapes of reductive expanses. With vivid, radiating hues, the paintings refer to landscapes and the nature of optics, but the new series is more ethereal while referencing the mark-making process.

Cat Manolis often challenges status quo with satirical commentary on contemporary issues and popular culture in her mixed media paintings. While retaining an eye-catching blend of shine and pattern, her portraits of rock greats were inspired by classes she taught adults at Artspace. Manolis will offer another adult class (21+) on Nov. 13, Glitterati & Wine, from 6-9 p.m. A fun-filled night of making dazzling self-portraits out of glitter while enjoying wine!

All eight finalists are current students in the N.C. State University College of Design and the NCSU College of Textiles. Come place a vote for your favorite artist! The winning design will be made into fabric and bow ties for our spring 2015 line.

Nicole’s studio presents “Lay of the Land,” featuring three premiere contemporary impressionists from local award-winning to nationally recognized artists.
