I work with transfer students, and I enjoy interacting with the diverse student population that can be found in the community college system. It is great to be able to give people options that will ultimately change the future not only for themselves but for future generations who follow them.

Throughout my time living in Knoxville, I would say it has big city amenities but a small town feel. The sense of community in Knoxville is very strong. Also, you will never run out of things to do, see or explore here in Knoxville. Everything from the growing downtown life to various outdoor activities, Knoxville has something for everyone.

College is what you make of it, so make the most of it!  Don’t miss those opportunities to get involved, both inside and outside the classroom. Get to know your professors by attending office hours, join a club or organization that you are passionate about and attend sporting events on campus! You never have to worry about finding something to do on campus! All of these experiences ultimately impact not only your college experience, but who you become as a professional and a person.

Take advantage of all the opportunities that college has to offer. From job fairs to joining organizations, step outside of your comfort zone and experience something you wouldn’t normally do. College really is the best four years of your life, and it forces you to learn so many new things about yourself. Buckle up and get ready for the ride!

I received many college admissions and scholarship offers, but my campus visit to UT finally convinced me that it was the place I wanted to go to college. Make an official visit to UT and hopefully you’ll feel the same way I did.

I met more people while I was an undergraduate than I ever thought possible, and they became my best friends. I also discovered what I truly care about and how to make a difference. UT is responsible for who I am today and who I will be in the future.

I love talking to prospective students and their families. Because of the great experience I had as an undergraduate at UT, I love being able to tell them about the experience that awaits. Selecting a university is one of the most important decisions you can make and I’m so glad to be a part of that!

Meet Dr. Tom Broadhead

I have about forty great colleagues in the Admissions Office, and I enjoy meeting prospective students and families and sharing with them information about the great opportunities offered at UT.

Surround yourself with the right people; build relationships with the staff and faculty; create opportunities/experiences by getting involved; whatever you are passionate about go and find it; and most of all go to class because you’ll learn at least one thing if you go and that one thing might be what you need to know.

Meet Sara Hopper – Transfer Admission

I love that I get to help prospective students in their college decision and let them know all the wonderful things that the University of Tennessee can offer them. UT is such an exciting place to go to school. I love that I can be a small part in helping someone get here.

College is one of the most memorable times in your life. It’s imperative that you take advantage of opportunities such as internships, study abroad, student organizations, and great academic courses. You don’t want to graduate and wish that you had done this or that.

Meet Richard Long

UT is a place where a student can be challenged academically, while enjoying the robust culture of the surrounding Knoxville community. It is not often you visit a foreign place and immediately feel at home, but from the first day on campus at University of Tennessee, I felt right at home.

Take the time to figure out what really sets you apart from others, and use those skills and attributes to your advantage in everything you do. Whether it’s when you’re applying to schools or when you’re applying for jobs, figure out your story, find your voice, and own it.

Meet Lauren Goldberg

If you don’t know what you want to major in, that is OK. I didn’t declare my major until it was down to the wire to decide. I completed an internship the summer before I had to declare my major and that was the best decision I made because I discovered what I did and didn’t want to do. If you get the chance to do an internship during your college career, DO IT!
