Our client has a fast growing division in London who provides economic advice in regulation, competition and dispute resolution. This particular role sits within the energy and natural resources market, working with policy makers, regulators and companies around the world. They are looking for outstanding energy sector economists to join the team, and in particular in the area of competition economics.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and will be able to discuss the wider offerings with them.
  • Act on business opportunities, both with existing and new client relationships.
  • Play a pivotal role in running projects and maintaining the client relationship with minimal supervision from Directors and Partners.
  • Have a major role in ensuring that any client work will be delivered to the highest standards in both content and form.
  • Depending on the nature of the assignment you will manage project teams of two to twelve people, fostering a collaborative spirit and culture of respect.
  • Be involved in the management and the development of the Energy team as a whole, including contributing to recruitment efforts, performance appraisal, mentoring and thought leadership.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Top academic qualifications in economics, with a focus on industrial economics and/or microeconometrics, from a leading institution, at least at MA/MSc level

 

 

  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Fluency in other languages preferable but not necessary.
  • Significant experience and/or qualifications in the application of regulation in the energy and utility sector
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines and budgets, on multiple projects simultaneously, and to produce deliverables of consistently high quality.
  • Experience of having worked in an energy or utility company/regulator or consultancy with a regulation or operational or strategy focus would be highly desirable.
  • Experience of energy sector regulation or experience of renewable energy, water gas and or electricity sectors would also be preferable.
