About
Welcome to Carrots ‘N’ Cake!
Hi! My name is Tina. I’m 35 years old, and I live on the South Shore of Massachusetts with my husband, Mal, our son, Quinn, and our adorable pug, Murphy, a therapy dog.
I lovvvve food, but my real passion is fitness and exercise. My favorite ways to stay in shape are CrossFit and running, but I also love yoga, spinning, hiking, and barre classes. My love for all things fitness led me to earn a Level 1 CrossFit trainer certification as well as a NASM personal trainer certification.
About Carrots ‘N’ Cake
Carrots ‘N’ Cake is where I share my love of food, staying fit, and living a healthy life. While I try to pack the most nutrients possible into each meal, I have a number of favorite foods that are not necessarily “healthy,” but are still delicious and fun to eat. If eaten in moderation, I believe that the “bad” foods can be part of a well-balanced diet… hence, Carrots ‘N’ Cake! I also share lots of workouts and randomness from my life, so there’s always something new on CNC!
This same philosophy and desire to share it with others helped me secure a book deal with Sterling Publishing. In May 2011, my book, Carrots ‘N’ Cake: Healthy Living One Carrot and Cupcake at a Time, was published. It’s based on my blog, so it’s a fun take on leading a healthy lifestyle– eating your carrots and savoring your cupcakes, too! Instead of restrictive dieting, obsessive calorie counting, and constant hunger, I show readers how they can drop the pounds (and keep them off) by adopting eating habits that are healthy, balanced, and above all, livable. My second book, The Part Time Vegetarian (PTV) Smoothies and Juices: Boost Your Immune System and Increase Your Energy With a Flexitarian Diet was released in July 2014.
I hope you enjoy Carrots ‘N’ Cake! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at tina@carrotsncake.com.

Hi Tina! I just wanted to let you know that I just read your book (actually, I read it in one day.) I have followed your blog a bit in the past but I just added it to my list to regularly follow. I found a lot of your stories really encouraging and can completely relate to your sweet-tooth binges. I’m working through this issue right now and, although I’ve had a few setbacks, keep pushing forward and try not to feel too guilty if it happens. Thanks for sharing your story with us

Hey there! I just stumbled upon your website and love it. I live in Quincy, MA and noticed that you live in the South Shore too. Where do you do CrossFit? I currently work out at the BSC downtown because that’s where I work, but am always up for evening workouts (or someone to motivate me to workout before work) Let me know if you would ever want to meet up! PS- I just started going to Secret Physique Barre classes and love them! You should check them out! (www.secretphysique.com). Hope to talk to you soon! Chelsea Shibe

I completely agree with your philosophy. To be as healthy and fit as possible, but, still enjoy life is my motto! I’m quite a bit older then you. I work as an ER nurse and I plan on being healthy and fit for a very long time. Love your blog!

For me the challenge is setting the right push-yourself goal. One that is going to make you improve but not injure you. That’s the sweet spot I’m trying to find right now with my running. But I always try and remind myself that I can always pull back if I need to, so go hard
