Founded in 2010 by Christopher Jobson, Colossal explores numerous aspects of visual culture including fine art, design, illustration, craft, street art, science, and animation. The website has inspired artists, curators, and creators from around the world and is used in classrooms from grade school through university to highlight fresh and unconventional approaches creativity.

The National Endowment for the Arts has called the website a “must read,” and PBS’ Art:21 said Colossal “brings recognition to under-represented (or even unrepresented) artists.” American actor Neil Patrick Harris praised the site as “artistic, smart, and inspiring,” and TED cites the blog as one of “100 Websites You Should Know and Use”. Christie’s calls it “nothing short of a must-visit.”
