Office of Global Affairs
The Office of Global Affairs is a division of the Office of the Provost. Headed by the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs, SUNY Global is responsible for strategic planning, policy development, coordination and incubation, of system-wide global initiatives.
Vision:
Global Affairs is committed to the creation of opportunities for all SUNY students to gain a global and intercultural perspective on themselves, their society and their area of study as an essential part of a well-rounded twenty-first century education.
Major areas of responsibility and leadership:
Global Affairs supports all SUNY campuses in harnessing the Power of SUNY to become more engaged with the world than ever before. Through the comprehensive internationalization of each SUNY institution, we seek to prepare globally competent graduates ready for the challenging careers of the new millennium. Major areas of responsibility include:
- Quality assurance for overseas academic programs
- Collaborative program development, coordination and management
- Offices abroad (Mexico, Russia and Turkey) represent all SUNY campuses and initiate and coordinate system-wide partnerships
- International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) oversight, including the SUNY J-1 Exchange Visitor Program Consortium and the Council on International Student and Scholar Services (CISSS)
- Education abroad: policy, review and risk management, in coordination with the SUNY Council on International Education (CIE)
- Peace Corps Master’s International partnership
- SUNY Language PACT (Pipeline, Access, Culture and Technology)
- Confucius Institute for Business
- JFEW SUNY International Relations and Global Affairs Program
