URBAN BEATS

2015-2016 CLASSES

Classes at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center through Rock School’s Urban Beats Program!

Over the course of the program students will produce their own music, with the goal of the program being the completion of a musical work.  Teachers will guide students through the beat-producing and songwriting process, as well as collaborating with them on new music.  Students will explore lyrical content, melody, cadence, and recording techniques to strive for the best possible recorded sound.

During the first six weeks of the program, students will learn how to opera the Garage Band software, which will include basic computer skills and knowledge.  After gaining experience in these fundamental technical skills, students will then learn how to record, mix, and master their original music using real and software instruments.

As the program progresses, students will focus on mixing and mastering of the recorded tracks, preparing their songs for release, which will be the culminating event of the program.  Students will leave the program with the technical skills to produce their own music and a fully produced son of their own creation.
