spacer Cold Winter Will Even Make This Summer Hot

A personal favorite North Carolina crew of mine, The ThoughtCriminals are back with a new LP, “Cold Winter” and as strong as ever.  Released in March and coming fresh from SXSW, these tracks will sure to be playing throughout the QC and NC until next winter, at least.
Right at 30 minutes all together, the ten track project covers everything that an album should. For example, proper production and vocals with timely, effective features wrapped up with eye catching art and packaging.
From the initial sound sample of the first track “Came to Play Some Jams” provided by the Super Mario All Stars cartridge until the last words from Mikal kHill on “Earthbound” expressing how good the Illbotz waffles are will give listeners a great idea of the groups personality. Meaning, they love just about anything Nintendo makes, they use anything they can find to make quality music with, they love to have fun with their music, they practice plus perform as a full band regularly and it shows.
A quick introduction to the immediate crew for credits on the album is in order before we get into the tracks. Mikal kHill; Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Programming, MIDI NES, etc. Sulfur; Vocals, OG Arrangement/Composition for “You’re Gonna Miss Me.” Kevin Morgan; Guitar. Alan Erickson; Bass.
spacer “Cold Winter” is highlighted with “Whirling Dervish,” a track covering personal paternal problems which is complimented with well written verses, a flawless Mikal kHill hook, along with a mean bass and guitar rift. The next track, “You’re Gonna Miss Me” is powerful emcee Sulfur at his finest ending with an amazing and moving guitar solo by Kevin Morgan.
With features by some of the heavy hitters in the Nerdcore circuit, emphasized by the incredible verses of Int80 of Dual Core, “All The Coins,” Stevie D of the Illbotz, “Return of the Antagonist,” Random along with AdamWarRock, “Earthbound” and Beefy “Our Time,” The ThoughtCriminals prove to be on the same caliber as the best of the best of this newer genre of music.
To support their movement, you can purchase the full album on bandcamp using this link, thethoughtcriminals.bandcamp.com/ and by visiting their official website using this link, www.thethoughtcriminals.net/.
spacer You can also catch The ThoughtCriminals live along side Dual Core and Keyza Soulsay with art on the spot by god city’s John Hairston Jr. at The World Famous Milestone June 18, 2011. 3400 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC.
