LAST CANNON - very impressive small title? (0.99$)
- LAST CANNON $.99
this one looks really impressive, very intriguing. i will probably tofit this one a bit later. oh, and i just embedded the video from the developers website (www.shadiradio.com/toys/lastcannon): Youtube link | Pop Up and here is an application description from app store: "This is the end. What was once paradise is now waste and rotting meat. I am surrounded by the decaying corpses of these disgusting invaders. The stink of them fills my thoughts. And I'm so hungry. Before my mind consumes itself in despair, I have to write our story. My name is Jhava, and as far as I know, I'm all that's left." - Half-puzzle, half-arcade shooter creates exciting and addicting gameplay. - Control your cannon by tilting your phone with silky smooth and responsive control. Change the sensitivity to suit your preference. - Mix it up with a variety of tools: your color-change beam, your destruction rockets, and your trusty super bomb. - The difficulty increases with your score to keep you on your toes! How long can you last? - Enjoy beautiful graphics, animation, sound, and music as you cleanup the night sky. - Simple to pick up and play, with enough depth to learn some advanced techniques to push your score further. Coming Soon in 1.1: - global high scores - edit options while paused |

Speechless.
This game looks awesome, I'll TOFFT now. EDIT - First impressions: The visuals are similar to the ones you see on the screenshots, but they're enhanced when you play the game on your iDevice. With that said, it looks stunning. This is one polished title. The presentation is right up there with the best of them. They don't have an introductory tutorial level, but offer some sort of Help section in the game. You can read through the instructions which are presented very, very well. There's also a Journal section in the game, where you can read a vague (but well-written) backstory to it all. Audio-wise, the game offers a few atmospheric tunes which won't blow your mind, but does its part in creating almost an illusory sort of atmosphere. They're quirky, they're atmospheric and they do fit well with the overall package. You use your cannon (dubbed Last Cannon) by tilting your iDevice left and right. The aim of the game is basically to shoot your colour-changing beam towards the oncoming invaders (called Knurlings) and then use your limited missiles to 'destroy' them. You can use your colour-changing beam to convert these Icabod-looking-things but also hold them off in one position. To get the most out of your limited missiles (which kill the Knurlings), try to convert all the invaders into one colour, so that they'll explode at once (referred to as a chaining the Knurlings). Once this is done effectively, you'll regain some of your lost missiles. You're basically doing this for as long as you can until you reach your high score. They also throw in an extra weapon -- the "Mighty Super Bomb" which seems to be a tension reliever. You can use this when things get a little hectic, as it'll basically wipe out any oncoming enemies on screen at the time. Let too many Knurlings get up close and personal and some will try to snatch one of 4 flags you have by your side. Once all 4 white flags are taken, it's game over. That's all I have for now, hope that helps in giving a little insight to what the game offers. Last edited by jFND; 05-17-2009 at 06:48 AM. |

I TOFTT.
Really impressed. I really like the graphics style. Very simple gameplay but has a little hidden depth in that when you shoot a rocket then it will kill all same coloured monsters in close proximity so by using the colour change beam, you can rack up a lot of points. The only problem is that the cannon didn't seem to move very smoothly. Looking forward to the planned updates and with the online leaderboards coming, I'll give a 5/5. Edit - I'm noticing a lack of being able to set an original calibration, only the sensitivity. Also, there is a click sound that seems to happen for some reason, maybe when new monsters arrive. This starts to annoy me after a bit but there is not option to turn this off, only to change the volume of all sound effects. Last edited by AClockworkSausage; 05-17-2009 at 06:42 AM. |
