We hope your holiday season was bright and oh so merry. We wanted to let you know we will not be having a Open Mic Night this month, as we are all taking a bit extra time with our families. But, we will resume hosting Open Mic every last wednesday of the month in January 2012. We sincerely hope to see you in the New Year.

Join our friends the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra for a Gold Party & Fundraiser on Thursday Dec. 15 from 6:30-10 pm in our studios. You can bring your unwanted gold jewelry, rings, earrings, even broken things, and exchange it for CASH. Food, drink, music and lots of gold merriness to accompany. Even better, the SCSO will benefit 10% of gold exchange earnings. It’s a win win.

We’re simply opening up Brick & Mortar for an informal meet-up of people working or interested in environmental topics. If that’s you, join us Tuesday nights at 6:30PM for Green Drinks, as guest presenter Jonathan Dodd of Keipos leads the discussion about local food and organic farming.
These events are simple, designed to spark conversation and change in our community, and free to attend.

Join us Friday, November 11 at 4:00pm for a special screening of Vanishing of the Bees, a compelling look at the economic, political and ecological impact of the disappearance of the honeybees. The film is a part of a new series called The Green Screen hosted in collaboration with Mrs. Mango & Company, CoalWar.com, and Brick & Mortar. We will be screening an environmental documentary every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm - 4:00pm in conjunction with our newest exhibition, “Coal War”.
Come for the film, short discussion, and stay for the art and opening night of “Coal War”.
Join us Friday, November 11, 6:00PM - 11:30PM for the opening of “Coal War” and come early for a screening of “Vanishing of the Bees” at 4:00PM hosted by Anneke Penn of Mrs. Mango & Company, as we kick off The Green Screen series.
Brick & Mortar presents “Coal War” An Exhibition, where digital art dialogues with alternative energy. The evening will feature a special presentation by Kentucky artist Andrew Moore, live music from Damion Suomi, Zac Sullivan and Jason Mayes, and plenty of beverages and refreshments.
The exhibition will run thru Dec. 3, 2011.

Brick & Mortar is accepting submissions for the Potluck Film Showcase on Friday, Nov. 18, 2011 in our studio space in Historic Cocoa Village. For all you local film producers, directors, writers, and enthusiasts, this is a perfect opportunity to share your passion, eat great food, and meet good people.

The event is 18+ and there is no cover charge, just bring your expression. Of course, if your not performing we still want you to come. What is a performer without an audience, anyhow? Open Mics at Brick & Mortar will continue throughout the year on the last Wednesday of each month, so mark it on your calendar. OFFSIDES: Improv Night
Join Brick & Mortar on Friday, Oct. 14th, for a fun evening of improv comedy featuring Orlando based group OFFSIDES. That’s right it’s improv, (not to be confused with improve…) there’s no script, no pre-rehearsed jokes or shticks, just pure spontaneity and quick-witted humor. The small group of performers will draw on your suggestions and comments to construct a series of short scenes and stories with hilarious results.
Doors are at 9:00 p.m. and admission is $7, the event is 18+.
