About Us
Vulvodynia Matters is a Boston-based 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to helping women overcome the pain and isolation of vulvodynia.
History
Vulvodynia Matters was founded in 2009 by several members of the Boston-area peer support group and family members, who were concerned about the need for:
- Reliable and useful information about vulvodynia and other vulvar pain disorders for women and the general public
- Support services and practical resources for patients suffering from vulvar pain disorders and their families
- Better awareness among health care providers of how to diagnose and treat vulvar pain disorders
Vulvodynia Matters incorporated as a non-profit in the state of Massachusetts in 2009. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt public charity. This exempts us from paying federal taxes and allows us to accept contributions that are tax-deductible by the donor. To make a contribution, see Donate.
In October 2009 we hosted a presentation by Dr. Lynne Margesson, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medicine (Dermatology) at Dartmouth Medical School and a leading authority on vulvar disease. Our plans for Spring 2011 include a panel discussion about treatment options for vulvar pain. For upcoming events, see News/Events. We also publish a newsletter twice a year.
