4Today we are looking at filtering. Instead of using a standard sieve or colander and sieving foodstuffs I thought we’d use toys.
We found some old cardboard boxes and cut different sized holes in each one. Then I asked the children to find me lots of different sized toys. We talked about what we thought would happen and which toys would fit through the different boxes. (more…)
Make glue from milk
4We have looked at making ‘plastic milk’ before. This week we are taking it one step further and making glue.

Fun Sparks – Emotion Posters
4Your brain is made up of billions of specialised cells called neurones that transmit information by chemical and electrical signals. They control every thing we do, right down to how we feel – our emotions.
It is thought an area on the side of the brain called the amygdala controls how we feel – excited to open a present, sad when someone breaks a toy, or angry at unfairness.
Noah is a very emotive little boy and is very aware of other people’s feelings. he constantly asks me if I am happy, or sad. When he is confused he will say ‘what face is that?’ to me.
So Firstly I asked him to show me his faces for angry, sad and happy. This was his interpretation. (more…)

7The brain is one of the most fascinating organs. The brain is the control centre for your body and it sits in your skull at the top of your spinal cord.
When we mention the word ‘neuroscience’ most people switch off and think it is something they cannot possible understand but…
1. Not when you get to play with play-dough (this keeps me and children of all ages entertained)
2.It is really REALLY interesting!
