Hi! Welcome to Jurino.com! As you have probably read in the sidebar, my name is Jurino and I’m one of those very few lucky people who were still able to get their first name as a .com. I write stuff about minimalism, which I hope you will find interesting.

In a nutshell, I am:

• A husband to my wife and father to my two cookie-colored kids. (One girl, born 2005 and a boy, born 2009)  – Our happy, little family lives in the Netherlands.

• Originally from the Dutch Antilles (Caribbean). I was born and raised on the beautiful island of Curaçao. I came to the Netherlands when I was 18, carrying only one suitcase. My journey towards minimalism began there.

• A Christian. Now, I don’t like to limit myself to a specific nomination, but I guess you could call me a Calvinist. My family and I attend a Dutch Reformed church and our oldest daughter attends a school that’s likewise. If you’re an unbeliever, you can still benefit from my blog. I may mention certain aspects of my faith, but I will not preach. If you, however, absolutely can’t stand Christians, you may have a problem here.

• Passionated about teaching piano-lessons to kids that would normally have great difficulties learning how to play. Think about children with ADHD or other behavioural difficulties. I believe that music shouldn’t be something static that comes from paper, but instead something that can be learned from feeling.

This blog is about minimalism and how it’s more or less the answer to all of the worlds problems. (Well, most of them, anyway) I hope I can teach people how to apply a minimalist lifestyle and how to make the transition to minimalism, coming from a lifestyle that they have been dictated by society.
