One of the biggest reasons that the Florida Panthers were able to come back from Monday’s early three goal deficit is the players in the dressing room.  Veterans that not only have the skill and the hockey sense to play the game, but the ability to lead the way and guide this team during difficult times.  A 3-0 lead is tough to come back against so early in the game, however to these veterans there was only one choice.  Push back.  And they did to the tune of four unanswered goals to win the game.

I spoke with Ed Jovanovski briefly after the game and he made a few comments that should make you feel good about this team.  One of the things he talked about was that the early goals didn’t demoralize the team.  Jovo said that on at least one of the goals netminder Jose Theodore didn’t really have a chance as a few mistakes led to the score. He knew along with the rest of the Panthers that they had to tighten up.  He also said that they wanted to keep things simple, chip the puck in, work the New Jersey defencemen knowing that they were down to 5 with Anton Volchenkov out for the night.  No one panicked, no one lost their composure, and they knew if they kept things simple, get a quick goal early in the second, they had a chance to turn things around. Little things like this that don’t show up on the scoreboard, but can make a huge difference in the course of a game, are one of the things that has made this Florida Panthers team successful.

Preview will be up later this afternoon.  Here’s your links for Wednesday:
