February 10th, 2012 --- Written by ep

First base is a virtual desert in the National League. Hard to argue with Joey Votto at fourth overall.

Let’s take a look at the current average draft position for the top 20 players in the National League.

Fantasy football offseason: Where Peyton Manning may go, and the value ripple effect

February 9th, 2012 --- Written by jzak

I was seven when I first threw a rock into a still pond and noticed the concentric circles rippling out from where the rock hit the reflective glass-like surface of the water. And of course, the bigger the rock, the larger the ripples. Throw in two rocks, and the wake from the larger one would drown out everything in its path.

The calm lake of the NFL offseason will soon be pelted with stones of all sizes – free agent signings, trades, draft picks, etc. But none will be as big as Peyton Manning. It will be like dropping a boulder in a bathtub – a bowling ball in a coffee mug.

Where will he land? How will his ripple effect change the values of others in the league? Dynasty owners need to stay on top of the ramifications, because there is serious value potential here. Let’s look at some of the scenarios and updated information in the first of what will is planned as a regular offseason feature involving the NFL rumor mill and how we dynasty fantasy owners should interpret the tea leaves. Fantasy baseball | Pitcher draft strategy: Why do you hate pitchers, fantasy leagues?

February 9th, 2012 --- Written by ep

For a couple years I’ve told fantasy owners to not draft pitchers early because they only pitch once per week. That, I’ve believed for as long as I can remember, makes them less valuable than hitters.

While pitchers are less valuable, the reason isn’t because of less playing time. It’s because pitchers are treated unfairly in fantasy baseball.

Chinstrap Ninjas 2011-2012 Fantasy Football Contest: A champion is crowned

February 7th, 2012 --- Written by ep

Congratulations to Dante Bruno, who scored the highest weekly point total of the season, allowing him to leapfrog into the top spot and claim multiple championships in the final week of the season.

Dante Bruno correctly started three of four players, including this week’s high-scorer, to roll into the top spot and take the 2012 Overall Championship. The performance was strong enough to earn DB the 2012 Super Bowl Week Championship, the 2012 Playoffs Championship and the 2012 February championship.

The league produced its highest-scoring week of 2012. Thanks to everyone for playing. Read on to find out how the rest of the league finished 2011-2012.

Chinstrap Ninjas Fantasy Football Contest: Playoffs Week 5 lineups, Playoffs Week 4 results

February 4th, 2012 --- Written by ep

My sincerest apologies for the contest’s extreme tardiness this week. It was an absolutely brutal week. Earlier I posted something as I composed the rest of this post just giving everyone as much time as possible to post a lineup.

I should have done it earlier in the week, but it never dawned on me.

Please post a lineup in the comments. Reminder: There’s another five bonus points available for all of the six teams who have competed in the playoffs so far. That means a team could post a 55-point week if they select all four players correctly.

Fantasy football 2012 | Early quarterback rankings

January 29th, 2012 --- Written by ep

It’s too early to set anything in stone. The 2012 NFL schedule hasn’t been released. The 2012 NFL Draft is months away. The offseason free agency/trading period has yet to happen.

However, it doesn’t hurt to daydream ahead a couple months to August when we’ll be selecting our 2012 fantasy championship teams.
