Welcome to SquaredPeg! Thanks for joining the conversation on how to embrace technology for higher education recruitment. Here’s a little bit about me.
My name is Brad J Ward and I have been working in the Higher Education setting for 5 years, starting as a student assistant in the Marketing Department at the University of Illinois at Springfield. As a student in 2003, I created a personal website with photos, forums, and videos for both current and prospective students, which was later used as a primary recruitment tool by the University. The site averaged nearly 29,000 page views per month over its 2 year span. After graduation, I served as the Marketing and Recruitment Specialist at UIS for 1 ½ years. I then spent nearly 2 years at Butler University, serving as the Electronic Communication Coordinator in the Office of Admission. My work was heavily focused in social media / social networking, web content, email marketing, and data research. I created and oversaw the Butler Bloggers and the BUForums community while at Butler, and most of my work is archived here on the pages of SquaredPeg.
I am the co-creator of www.bloghighed.org, a site that aggregates many popular higher education blogs.
I am now the Chief Explosion Officer (CEO) at BlueFuego, a startup venture dedicated to helping Colleges and Universities utilize the web tools and social media I talk about on this blog. It’s an exciting opportunity and I look forward to the opportunity to work with many of you.
