About This Blog and It's Author

Welcome to The Purposeful Mom! I'm so glad you stopped by! My desire is that we can encourage each other to live with purpose in our calling as wives, moms and daughters of God.

I'm Jenn, the rambler blogger here. I am a daughter of Jesus, a wife to a wonderful husband and mom to three sweet kids. We live in what some affectionately call "The Northern Plains", where my husband serves two churches. I never planned on being the wife of a pastor in a small town but I have been blessed tremendously by our church family and ministry, our home and my family (more about them below)! My main "career" is staying home with our kids but I also enjoy coaching competitive speech at a local high school in the winter months.

Why "The Purposeful Mom"?

God created us for good reason and so I want to live each day with that in mind!

My blog started a couple of years ago as a place for me to share what the Lord was teaching me through time in His Word. That was all I did for quite some time.

Recently, after praying over my blog, I felt led to make it a part of my daily life as a way to share how our family is learning to live with purpose in all areas of our lives: the spiritual, the emotional, the financial and the practical.

Here you can find devotions, thoughts on parenting and using Scripture in daily life, recipes and kids crafts. I am working on several series including my first, the Scripture in our Home series.

I am FAR from perfect and God is teaching me daily to rely on Him for strength, wisdom and patience in these endeavors!

Some days my writing is practical, other times contemplative and occasionally I make at attempt at wit. But on all these days, I'm just me! A deeply flawed woman saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ my Savior who wants to share what she's learning with lovely people like you!

I'd love to hear your thoughts and ideas anytime. You can contact me at pressingontowardthegoal {at} gmail {dot} com.

Here's a little about my family if you want to read on...

This is Kirk:

My husband and my greatest encourager and supporter. He makes me laugh when I'm being too serious and helps me to see the glass as half-full when I'm in a half-empty mood! He is a great dad to our kids and wants to train them to be great athletes while I'm trying to convince him they should be musicians and write books :)

Meet Will:

Born in the bleak mid-winter of 2006, he's a thoughtful, helpful and careful child. At any time of the day, you can find him on the couch with a book, calling out random facts he's discovered, like "Mom, did you know a comet will pass by the earth on March 29, 2021? I hope you're still alive for that one!"

Meet Leah:

Our little daredevil, Leah walks around with a perpetual sly grin on her face.  She's always up to something and those "somethings" are usually happening when Mom is distracted with other things, like making dinner and changing Jude's diapers. She entered the world screaming in July of 2008 and her spunky (and sweet!) personality continues to shine through to this day.

Meet Jude:

Jude is our newest addition, coming into the world nine days past his due date at the end April 2011 when the ground was still covered with snow. He's a calm, smiley baby who loves nothing more than to be snuggled and tickled. He's pretty chill, despite all the action around him, but hey, who needs toys when you have older siblings to entertain you!

Blessings to you today!
Jenn
