Lenny Kravitz: Jennifer Lawrence is an ‘Amazing Actress’

Posted on by admin
Reply

spacer Reuters recently interviewed Lenny Kravitz about his latest album and current U.S. tour, but also discussed Lenny’s interest in acting, including Precious and The Hunger Games.

“I was offered a lot of movies before I took on ‘Precious,’ and I turned them all down for years because they were very clichéd.” said Kravitz, who delighted in losing himself in the role to the point that he was unrecognizable to many moviegoers.

“I saw Quentin Tarantino and he was like, ‘I kept trying to figure out throughout the whole movie who that was. I didn’t realize it was you,’” Kravitz happily recounted. “That’s the greatest compliment.”

In “Hunger Games,” Kravitz portrays the talented and innovative Cinna, a visionary stylist and trusted friend to teen gladiator Katniss, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence. He said it was the character’s artistic ability and caring nature that appealed to him. The fact that he was already friends with Lawrence helped him get into character.

“I had a relationship with Jennifer through my daughter (actress Zoë Kravitz). They filmed ‘X-Men’ (First Class) together in London, and used to come to the house in Paris on weekends,” said Kravitz. He said his friendship with Lawrence made working together “comfortable and really fun. She’s an amazing actress.”

Kravitz said as film scripts pour in, he continues to be selective about future acting jobs. He hopes to work with friend and ‘Precious’ director Lee Daniels again and take roles that his fans don’t see coming.

“I’m looking for interesting characters,” said Kravitz. “I’m looking forward to being busy. Great roles, great characters and things that are not expected.”

Cinna definitely fits that description! You can read the full article at Reuters.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 Trailer to Debut with The Hunger Games

Posted on by admin
13

spacer Fans have wondered if the Breaking Dawn Part 2 trailer would debut before The Hunger Games, seeing as The Hunger Games trailer debuted before Breaking Dawn Part 1, and now that Lionsgate owns Summit, we’d expect to see a bit more cross promotion between the two franchises. According to the LA Times, this is, in fact, the case:

The trailer for the fifth and final “Twilight” movie, “Breaking Dawn Part 2,” will debut exclusively on “The Hunger Games” in March — the first significant example of synergy between Lions Gate Entertainment and its new subsidiary Summit Entertainment.

…”‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2′ trailer will debut exclusively on every ‘Hunger Games’ print on its opening night for what will be Lions Gate’s largest release ever,” Santa Monica-based Lions Gate’s chief executive Jon Feltheimer said on a conference call with analysts Friday following the release of its financial results.

You can read the full article at the LA Times. Whether or not you like the Twilight franchise, this could certainly be a great way to introduce The Hunger Games to Twilight fans!

Dayo Okeniyi (Thresh) recently attended the red carpet premiere of The Vow where The Hot Hits asked him a quick question about what it’s like to be involved in The Hunger Games.

spacer Dayo told thehothits.com, “It feels awesome and amazing. I feel privileged to be a part of this. I’m a fan of this movie; I’m a fan of the books, just like anybody else. I cannot wait for this thing to come out.”

He continued, “I’ve been having sleepless nights because I hope it does well. I hope we’ve created something that the fans are excited about and that they will get the same feeling that they had when they read the books you know. It’s such a beloved book, and I don’t want to be part of the crew that messed it up!”

Trust us, Dayo, fans are definitely excited about this spacer

Woody Harrelson: Gary Ross is a ‘Freaking Genius’

Posted on by admin
Reply

Woody Harrelson is continuing to do promotion for his film Rampart (which hits theaters this Friday in limited release), and in a new interview with The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog, he talks briefly about the world of The Hunger Games.

spacer This character smokes a lot. Your next character, Haymitch in “The Hunger Games” drinks a lot.

The drinker, that’s a horrible way to put it. I guess he does like a little bit of drink though.

But they are both addicted to substances. What was it like to enter the dystopian world of “The Hunger Games?”

It was really cool man. Gary Ross, that guy is a freaking genius and I think that he created this world, the world that my character Haymitch was in was in the capital, I wasn’t out there in the games. But that world was just staggering in its depth of its imagination. It’s incredible man. Everything was so different from the world we know, so its really a completely fantasized world.

Sounds like we can expect a great visual representation of the world Suzanne Collins described in the books! You can read the rest of the Q&A at Speakeasy.
