Colts Second Straight Win Presents New Dilemmas

After last weeks win the Indianapolis Colts had gotten the albatross of not winning a game out of the way. However Orlovsky, led the Colts to a second straight win against the playoff bound Texans, creating all new kinds of problems for the organization.

Indianapolis played from behind the entire game, up until the final moments when Orlovsky put together a last minute drive and connected with Reggie Wayne on a game winning touchdown.

Winning is good for every sport entity, however for this team on this particular year, it could potentially be a bad thing. The Colts had been in line for the first pick in the draft with the opportunity of drafting Andrew Luck or trading the pick for a king’s ransom has its many perks. So the situation that the Colts organization faces is that they could potentially lose that pick with a win and a Rams loss. One would think that the front office would want that pick and could even be hoping for a loss next week.

Next week against the Jaguars will be one of those few times where the front office and fans of a team will be rooting for their team to lose.

Change at Quarterback, Same Result

The Indianapolis Colt are chasing history, a part of history that no football team wants to be a part of. That is to be the second NFL team to finish a season 0-16. However, the way in which the Colts loss this game to the Patriots was unlike any other.

After allowing the Patriots to score four straight touchdowns over two quarters, Indianapolis was facing a 31-3 deficit with only the fourth quarter left. Donald Brown scored the first touchdown on a five yard run. Then after forcing the Patriots to punt twice more, Orlovsky was able to hit Pierre Garcon on a 33 yard touchdown pass.

Indianapolis’ defense was able to force the Patriots on another three and out, which allowed Orlovsky to find Garcon again for another touchdown. Although the Colts were able to cut the deficit to seven, they had only 12 seconds left in the game. The Colts were not able to recover the onside kick, and ended up falling to the Patriots 31-24, but not without a fight.

With four games remaining on the schedule the Colts’ most winnable game is their last of the season against the Jaguars. It might be imperative for Jim Caldwell to get a win or two down the stretch, because without one his job may be on the line.

Another Game Another Loss

One positive thing you could say about the Indianapolis Colts this season is that they are very consistent. However that consistency has led them to an (0-11) record, and quite possibly the worst season by any team in the history of the NFL. Last week a 27-19 loss to the Carolina Panthers was as close of a game the Colts had played in almost half a season.

After falling behind 10-0 Indianapolis was able to tie at 10 before halftime. The Colts could not hold off the Panthers for long though, with Cam Newton playing as well as he did. Newton finished the game 20-27 for 208 yards and a rushing touchdown. Indianapolis attempted to make it interesting late. Down eight with five minutes to play the Colts were putting a drive together before Curtis Painter threw his second interception of the game, ending all hopes of the Colts’ first win.

Next week Indianapolis will be wishing they never played football this year, when they get the chance to play the Patriots in New England. Do not be surprised if the Colts get demolished, because as it has been shown before, Brady and Belichick are not afraid to run up the score against teams.

The Indianapolis Jokes Lose Again, 17-3

The Indianapolis Colts have to be the absolute worst team ever. Although their have been other really bad teams, such as the 0-16 Lions of a few years back and the bad Raiders teams after their Superbowl run. None of those teams  in my opinion look as hideous as the Colts do week in and week out.

For the first time maybe ever, the Colts fans booed their team on Sunday, for their dismal performance. At this point in the season the Colts fans have earned the right to boo the team. Yes they have been spoiled by all the success over the last decade, however none of the fans really booed before this past week, and any (0-10) team should be booed.

Indianapolis’  matchup with the Jaguars, was basically a contest to see who’s offense is more inept, and the Colts won in that regard, maybe the only thing they will win all season. Both teams combined for less than 300 yards of total offense and both looked totally inept asides from Maurice Jones-Drew who has made a career of playing good against the Colts. Jones-Drew finished the day with 114 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries.

The Colts have a bye next week, which is great for them because now they will not be able to lose in on week this season.

Colts Lose in Dreadful Fashion 31-7, Fall to 0-9

The Indianapolis Colts have gone from a lousy team losing close games, to an out and out disaster of a team. There is no more need for proof that Peyton Manning has deservedly won MVP of the NFL over the past few years, with the hideous play of the Colts without him. After losing to the Falcons on Sunday 31-7, Indianapolis has been outscored 120 to 24.

The first quarter of the game, was a microcosm of how the Colts’ season has progressed. On Indianapolis’ first possession rookie running back Delone Carter fumbled the ball, which was recovered by Atlanta. The Falcons quickly turned that turnover into a touchdown run by Michael Turner. Next possession Painter was driving the ball down the field until he threw an interception on the Falcons twenty. Atlanta moved the ball to the 50, where Matt Ryan hit rookie receiver Julio Jones on a 50 yard touchdown pass, where he was surrounded by three Colts defenders who did absolutely nothing in stopping the play.

Early in the second quarter Matt Ryan found Julio Jones again who caught a short slant pass and ran it 80 yards for another touchdown and a 21-0 lead for the Falcons. At this point, although early in the game still, everyone knows that the Colts have no shot of coming back from a three possession lead. With Manning you would give them a punchers chance no matter the score, but now that they have become the laughingstock of the NFL, it is unclear if they can even win a game this season.

Now that Miami has won a game and have looked better in their last three games, it appears at this point that the Colts will wind up with the first overall pick in the draft. Andrew Luck would be the obvious choice, but Manning will be back, whether he will remain healthy is unknown, but a choice would have to be made. If it were up to me I would look to trade the pick, and possibly a Robert Mathis, or a Dwight Freeney, for a boatload of picks.

The Colts Lose Another One 27-10

All you had to do was watch two quarters of Indianapolis’ game against Tennessee to see everything that is wrong with this hideous football team. The Colts are not any good in any one area. Their special teams are poor which was on display when the Titans blocked a punt and recovered it for a touchdown in the second quarter to make it 10-0. Their offense can never get any points on the board, and the Colts defense, which has never really been any good, looks so much worse now that they never have a lead.

After falling behind 20-0 the Colts had nothing left to play for. Indianapolis was able to put a couple of scoring drives together late, for cosmetic reasons no serious comeback could have been put together. At (0-8) the Colts are as bad of team as you can imagine, they are equally as bad if not worse than the Miami Dolphins and it would be no shock if they finished the season with no wins, or one win at best.

The Colts are facing the Falcons at home next week, and Indianapolis has actually played fairly well at home this season, but you cannot trust a team like the Indianapolis to maintain any sort of consistency.
