Carl Predicts Giants Victory Over Packers

Carl doesn’t get nearly enough credit for correctly predicting the winner of Super Bowl 42 (and the two conference winners) more than two months prior to the game in 2007. In 2007, following the Giants bye week all the hype was about the match-up between the two unbeaten teams at the time, the Indianapolis Colts and the New England Patriots. But Carl was pissed, because he knew about the magical run the Giants were going to have. Carl stated, months prior to the 17-14 Super Bowl 42 victory, that “it’s a foregone conclusion, the Gmen will roll in Arizona” and even went on to predict the dominance of Giants defensive line in that game when he said Osi Umenyoria would rip Tom Brady’s head off and engorge himself on the iron rich blood from his Patriot neck.

However, Carl isn’t satisfied with ending on that note. This week he makes his new Stone Cold Lock of the Century, of the Week! Carl believes the Giants are peaking at the right time and claims that the “magical dust from ’07 is in the air”.

Let’s hope that Carl’s latest prediction is proof that he can accurately predict the outcome of the Giants games and that it doesn’t blow up in his face. Regardless of the outcome on Sunday against the Packers, he will forever be loved by New York Giants fans for accurately predicting the Giants victory in Glendale over the 18-0 Patriots.

Giants End 4-Game Skid, Reclaim NFL East Lead

For the third year in the row, the New York Giants traveled to the Palace and Dallas, and they knocked it the F*** down. The Giants should be sending their thanks to Jerry Jones for building Eli Manning his place of dominance. If you still don’t get what I’m saying, Eli and the Giants are 3-0 in their 3 games they’ve played at Cowboys Stadium.

Now, let’s discuss the game a little bit. Although it’s always great to see the Giants escape a match-up with the Cowboys with a win, it’s still extremely troubling that in the 14th week of the NFL season, the Giants look just as lost, if not more lost, on the defensive side of the ball. Yes, it’s exciting to have over 500 yards of offense, a QB throw for 400 yards with a 100-yard rusher for only the second time this season, but the Giants gave up 444-yards and Romo was able to throw for 4 TD’s against the Giants weak and confused defense. If it wasn’t for the fact that the Giants and Cowboys are the only two teams fighting to take the NFC East Crown, I would say you can stick a fork in the Giants, but Dallas may actually be worse, so unfortunately the Giants glaring problems may be overlooked by an undeserved playoff appearance.

Let’s get this straight right now, the Giants will not win a playoff game! They may make the playoffs, but I don’t see how this team will be able to win a playoff game with their defense playing the way they are. And by the looks of it, the Giants are currently a two-manned team, Eli is carrying the offense, and Jason Pierre-Paul is carrying the defense. Maybe they can their acts together, but I just don’t see it happening. But Congratulations to Coughlin for keeping his job for another year, most likely.

Giants Lose to Eagles and are on the Brink of Another Second Half Collapse

In the 2009 NFL season, the Giants started 5-0, they finished 8-8 and didn’t qualify for the playoffs. In the 2010 NFL season, the Giants started 6-2, they finished 10-6 and for the second season in a row, they did not qualify for the playoffs. In the current NFL season, the Giants, again, started 6-4, but now with the toughest remaining part of their schedule in back-to-back weeks, the Giants are 6-4 and are heading towards another frustrating finish to the season that ends without the playoffs. As a fan who has not forgotten the past 2 seasons, and has been warning the Giants 360 readers about getting overly optimistic, this is everything I feared and somewhat expected. In order for the Giants to make the playoffs, winning one of the next two game, although not mathematically essential, is essential if the Giants want to salvage the season and vie for a spot in the NFC playoffs.

All it would have taken to change the tune of Giants fan everywhere and give us fans hope, was for the Giants to beat the Eagles and advance to 7-3 on the season. Instead the Giants showed up, and the Eagles beat them to their knees and Giants elected to stay there and get walked all over by a Vince Young led Eagles squad. The Giants weren’t able to get any form of a pass rush going, run the ball, stop the pass, or convert first downs. The tone of the game was set on the opening drive when Jake Ballard had a first down close to mid-field in his hands, but instead he dropped the pass and it lead to a failed third down conversion, and the Giants were never able to get anything going after that. Let’s just hope this game wasn’t a tone setter for the remainder of the season, but don’t be surprised if the next two weeks are blowouts.

Next week the Giants will play on Monday Night Football in New Orleans against the Saints. Drew Brees and the Saints had a bye last week, and will likely exploit the many weaknesses in the Giants defense and offense. Giants 360, a New York Giants blog, will keep you posted on all the Giants news and information regarding the upcoming game.

Eli and the Giants Lose Key Conference Match-up

In a key conference match-up that could potentially determine who gets a first round bye in the playoffs, the New York Giants left San Francisco with a lot to think about on their 6-hour flight home. On Sunday, November 13, 2011, the New York Giants had an opportunity to be in a second place tie with the 49ers as 7-2 each had the Giants been able to pull off another miraculous Eli Manning led fourth quarter come back. However, the next day, Giants fans discussed a few plays that could have been, questioned some late game play-calling, and wondered about a few missed defensive assignments, but at the end of the day, the New York Giants lost, are now 6-3, and they better be ready for what may be a dog fight with the Dallas Cowboys to win the NFC East.

The Giants are 6-3, and the Cowboys are 4-4, but the Cowboys have a much more favorable schedule ahead of them. But the easiest way for the Giants to mitigate the possibility of the Cowboys closing the gap on the 2-game lead the Giants currently maintain is to simply beat them in the two games they have with them. As of now, Eli Manning is having the best season of his career, and even though a balanced attack of run and pass is what Coach Coughlin wants, it seems obvious to the outsiders looking in that the Giants need to continue to pass the ball as much as possible. That would mean not running the ball without a lead blocker on 3rd and 2 when 10-yards away from scoring the touchdown needed to take a game into overtime.

Next week the Giants have an opportunity to shut the proverbial window on the Eagles just a little bit more. This may look like and easy game for the Giants playing a division rival that is practically down and out, and playing at home. But don’t take this game too lightly, just like most of us did last year when Dallas came into the Giants stadium and stole a game that the Giants should have won.

Giants Defeat Dolphins in Another Fourth Quarter Comeback

The New York Giants improved to 5-2 after defeating the Dolphins a week after their bye. Prior to the game, expects joked about the Giants having two bye weeks in a row because they were hosting the 0-6 Dolphins, but all Giants fans knew this wasn’t going to be a blowout, and the 11.5 point spread was way to generous for the Giants. Now why do I say this? The Giants have been unable to dominate any of their recent opponents, so I didn’t think the Giants would dominate the Dolphins, and they didn’t. However, they won and now have a 2 game lead over the Cowboys and Eagles in the NFC East.

The game started with the Dolphins quickly building up a 14-3 lead in the first half, but the Giants were able to score late in the 2nd quarter to make the score 14-10 going into the half. But it took 10 points in the 4th quarter to come from behind to win the game. The play that won the game was a 25-yard pass from Manning to Cruz, who spun out of a Will Allen tackle to walk into the end zone. The Giants didn’t walk away from the game unharmed though, Tryon is lost for the season with a broken arm, and Nicks strained his hamstring and his status for next week against the Patriots is unknown.

The player of the game was clearly Eli Manning. The Giants weren’t able to get anything going on the ground, so Eli was forced to throw the ball 45 times, completing 31 of his attempts for a total 349 yards with 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.

Next week the Giants will travel to New England to play the Patriots, but the status of Nicks and Bradshaw (ankle) is unknown for both. Keep reading this New York Giants blog for all the Giants news regarding the injury reports and Giants information in general.

Giants Defeat Bills and Claim First Place in the NFC East

The Giants had their second straight home game on 10/16/2011 against the 4-1 Buffalo Bills. After trading punts, the Giants finally had a long scoring drive consisting of 9-plays and taking 5:26. But right after, the Bills hit a home run with Fred Jackson, and after forcing the Giants to punt, hit another home run with a 60-yard pass to Roosevelt to take a 14-7 lead. The New York Giants were outplayed, in my opinion, but what they did right, was they played smarter and were more conservative than the Bills. That is highlighted when you look at the turnovers.

A problem the Giants have had for the past couple years has been turnover, whether it was Eli throwing an interception, or Bradshaw putting the ball on the ground, the Giants were plagued with turnovers. This is a game where the Giants won because they did not turn the ball over, and then proceeded to take it away from the Bills. The Giants had zero turnovers, but had two takeaways, both were interceptions which Corey Webster took away from Stevie Johnson. The second pick was late in the 4th quarter in a 24-24 game with the Bills in field goal range. That interception gave the Giants the chance to drive down the field, and kick a field goal to take a 3-point lead with less than 2 minutes remaining. And unlike the Seahawks game, the Giants defense was able to stop the Bills from moving down the field, and were able to win and head into the bye with a 4-2 record, sitting alone on top of the NFC East.

The star of the game was Ahmad Bradshaw, he had 104 yards on 26 carries, with all 3 of the New York Giants touchdowns.

Keep up to date with this New York Giants blog for all the New York Giants news you need to stay informed about the team.
