5 Angry Birds Alternatives That Are Better Than the Original
class=”digg.com/submit?url=http%3A//www.ismashphone.com/2010/11/5-games-that-are-like-angry-birds-that-arent-angry-birds.html”>
Angry Birds has been long-standing as one of the most popular iOS games for quite some time now. It may not be as big as it was several months ago, but it’s by no means doing poorly.
That said, there are plenty of games just like Angry Birds available on the App Store. Some have been around longer than Angry Birds, and others are games that were inspired by its success. We say “original” because it’s the first game of its kind to become hugely popular. Either way, they all play similarly to the popular iOS game and have better features.
Let’s have a look:
1) Fun With Death
The game that lets you play as death. That’s right, the reaper himself. Currently, the game contains 60 levels of catapulting to knock stuff down type gameplay. The story is fun enough, the Grim Reaper is “an employee of Karma, Inc. Purgatory’s larges and most efficient soul processing facility.”
Things get out of whack and now the reaper is trying to save the good souls while eliminating the bad souls. The bad souls include former Wall Street Bankers, mob kingpins, lawyers and politicians.
Check out the App:
HD – $4.99
Standard – 99 cents
Lite – Free
2) Trucks & Skulls
We wrote about this one a few days ago, and mentioned that we enjoy it more than Angry Birds. We prefer the art style on this game and liked the features it implements. Worth trying if you are a fan of Angry Birds. You may even like it better.
iPhone – 99 cents
iPad – $1.99
3) Canon Cadets
Shoot a little space cadet out of a canon and watch him fly. The object of the game is to destroy little evil robots by…you guessed it, launching characters and judging their trajectory to make them hit targets.
This one is 99 cents on the App Store, there is also a Demo version.
4) Crush the Castle
This App is one of the first of its kind to hit the App Store. While it hasn’t seen quite the success that Angry Birds has, it’s definitely worth checking out. It’s also a very solid game in the physics-based-launch-a-projectile-and-destroy-everything genre.
99 Cents on the App Store (iPhone Only)
5) Da Vinci Cannon
Da Vinci Cannon is much like Crush the Castle. The controls are very different. Players do not pull back on a sling and release. They adjust everything through the display on the bottom part of the screen. What’s nice about this is that it helps prevent misfires. We have all been adjusting our aim at one point when suddenly our little birdie flies away because we accidentally released when we meant to adjust the angle of our shot.
99 cents on App Store
There’s Lots of ‘em!
There are a butt-load of games like these, but none have managed to reach the audience that Angry Birds has. Chalk it up to a lot of luck and characters that clicked with iPhone owners. It’s by no means a bad game. In fact, it’s really good. Just know that there are tons out there like it, and some are still being improved by studios who listen to their audience and want to add features to make their game the best of the bunch.
Of course, if you remain unconvinced, and Angry Birds is the best of it’s kind. No biggie. We actually have some walkthroughs that may help you with the game:

Thanks for some really excellent looking alternatives to Angry Birds. This is definitely a post I will be linking to on my site App Advisor when I come to review both Angry Birds and Fun With Death. Just as an addition, PiratesVsNinjasVsZombiesVsPandas is a really good alternative and worth trying out.
I really enjoy the game Aiko Island- its a physics puzzle game but its more interesting and difficult then angry birds…you hsould check it out
