Latina Bloggers Connect at BlogHer
BlogHer 2011 was a coming out party for Latina Bloggers, who had many opportunities to meet one another informally or at the Kmart-sponsored Social Fiesta on Saturday night.
Latina bloggers and online community leaders Monique Frausto and Elianne Ramos emceed a packed Social Fiesta party at BlogHer on Saturday, August 6, that included a major announcement of a BlogHer and Latinos in Social Media partnership. The party, which was sponsored by Kmart and took place on the roof of the Marriott hotel in San Diego, had everyone dancing to Latino music, including merengue, salsa and reggaeton. Traditional Latino foods and drinks, like mojitos, were served. Kmart topped off the night with $5 gift cards for everyone.
On Friday night, there was an impromptu Latina blogger meet-up at Margarita’s Kitchen & Cantina in San Diego’s Seaport Village. We were treated to margaritas, tacos and hamburgers made of unusual meats like caribou (I didn’t taste it), ostrich (okay), and buffalo (yum!).
The company was even better. Here’s a picture of my crew, which included from left to right: Jehmu Greene, Cheryl Contee (Jack and Jill Politics blog), myself, Mary Jane, Ashley Boyd from MomsRising.org, Diana from the Life Well Blended blog, Anita Jackson at MomsRising.org, Aspen Baker at Exhale, and Jenifer Fernandez Ancona at the Women Donors Network.
I am looking forward to seeing my blog hermanas at BlogHer-New York City next year!
