I’ve interviewed many people in my very long career in journalism, but Jean Arnberg is one of the most memorable. Jean is one of the many women nominated by her loved ones as a Beautiful Women in the Beautiful Women project by Forum Communications Company.

Today, I sat down with Jean for an interview in her home where she told me about playing piano for North Dakota celebrities and what she’s always wanted her daughters to remember.

Make sure YOU nominate the Beautiful Women in your life today, they might be featured in an upcoming story!

The Top 5 Most Watchable Chick Flicks with Special Guests: The Mancave Guys

Posted on by Tracy Briggs

It’s cold. You don’t want to go out to the movies. Why not stay home and dig through your old DVD’s (or maybe even VHS tapes) for a great old movie to watch? Maybe you’ve seen it so many times, you don’t really even need to sit down and watch it. You put in on for the background noise while you’re working on your computer or doing the dishes. I know that’s the way I often watch movies. And in these instances Chick Flicks fit the bill. Don’t get me wrong. I love a good action/adventure, drama or even horror movie. But for those movies you need to pay attention. It’s hard to plug in “Die Hard” and just casually watch. But with some of my favorite Chick Flicks, it’s about the dialogue. You can just listen and enjoy the greatness.

So today, I’ve decided to present you the 5 most watchable Chick Flicks – those movies I don’t seem to mind watching over and over again. They might not be the best movie, but they’re on hand. To help with the movie review, two of my favorite Areavoices bloggers: Jared and Cody from Movies in the Mancave.

Enjoy! And let me know what your top five might be!

Bottles of Hope

Posted on by Tracy Briggs

Mary Edmister of Moorhead uses polymer clay to transform glass bottles that once held medicine for cancer patients into beautiful works of art.

While each bottle is unique, they are all marked with the word hope.

The Bottles of Hope program, which is being done at hospitals around the world, started at Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo in August.

Edmister and her friend, Adele Schumacher of Horace, N.D., who also decorates bottles for the program, have made about 400 bottles each so far.

“Each of the bottles goes to the person with a lot of hope and wishes for health and our thoughts and prayers,” Edmister said. “I hope people feel that when they get their bottle.”

Sanford’s embrace cancer survivorship program launched the Bottles of Hope program in Fargo and provides the supplies and equipment for the bottles.
