Our riders have worn the world champion rainbow stripes, the Giro’s maglia rosa, the Tour de France’s yellow and polka-dot jerseys and taken home the Tour of Missouri yellow leader’s jersey. As one of the sport’s most talented and hard-working teams, Garmin-Barracuda is prepared to race hard, race clean!

spacer Christian Vande Velde
In 2008, Christian made the transition from super domestique to team leader, finishing the season as one of the world’s top cycling talents. As part of the winning team time trial squad at the Giro d’Italia, Christian became only the second American ever to don the coveted maglia rosa. He rode heroically throughout the 2008 Tour de France, finishing fourth overall. The team’s biggest win in 2008 came when Christian took home the yellow jersey from the Tour of Missouri. He is Team Garmin-Barracuda’s on-the-road captain and will lead the team in many future victories.

spacer David Millar
David Millar made his mark as the youngest yellow jersey wearer ever in the Tour de France. In 2000, he beat Lance Armstrong in stage one of the Tour de France. After serving a two-year suspension, David has become one of cycling’s leading spokesmen for anti-doping and a member of the World Anti Doping Association (WADA). He rode the Giro d’Italia for the first time in 2008, helping lead the team to victory in the opening team time trial. He continues to be one of the sports leading time trialists, winning a silver at the 2010 UCI world championships and a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games time trial.

spacer Tyler Farrar
2009 was a break-through season for Tyler, notching major field sprint wins in major European races like Tirreno-Adriatico, the Tour of Benelux and the Vattenfall Cyclassics. His 2009 season culminated with a first sprint win in a Grand Tour at the Vuelta a Espana, winning the sprint on stage 11. Farrar is quickly becoming the known as the ‘fastest American racer’ and is backing it up. In 2010 Farrar won two sprint stages of the Giro d’Italia and two sprint stages of the Vuelta a España, along with one-day and stage race wins.
For 2011 Farrar will be focusing on more Grand Tour sprint wins, including the Tour de France.

spacer Ryder Hesjedal
Ryder “Weight-of-a-Nation” Hesjedal rode himself into the top tier of cycling in 2010. After team leader Vande Velde was out of the Tour de France with an early crash, the Canadian rose to the challenge to take up the GC fight, claiming seventh overall in biggest race in the world. This following a win in the final stage of the Tour of California, a second in the Amstel Gold race and two top-fives on home soil in the Quebec ProTour races.
For 2011 Hesjedal will be looking to continue his rise as the next era of GC riders as well as looking for wins in top one-day races such as the Montepaschi Strade Bianche in Italy.

spacer Heinrich Haussler
Heinrich Haussler is threat in sprint situations from Grand Tours to one-day races, and will definitely add power to the Garmin-Barracuda lead-out train. But Haussler has many marquee wins on his palmares, including a stage of the Tour de France, a stage of the Vuelta a España and the sprint jersey at the Tour of Qatar. Though he is a dual citizen of Germany and Australia, he races as an Australian.

spacer David Zabriskie
The only American to have won stages in all three grand tours (France, Italy and Spain), “DZ” is known for his wickedly dry wit. In 2005, he spent three days in the Tour de France yellow jersey. In 2009 he won his first-ever stage race overall at the Tour of Missouri. A multiple US national time trial champion, and the current Captain America in the discipline, Dave wins big races and keeps the team’s morale high with his colorful personality. He also promotes his own line of chamois cream, DZ Nuts. He also founded a non-profit organization called Yield to Life, which is devoted to creating a safer riding environment for cyclists by promoting awareness and education among those who ride, and those who drive.

spacer Dan Martin
Former Irish national road champion Dan Martin had a breakout year as a neo-pro in 2008. Besides winning the national road championships, Dan won the prestigious Route du Sud. He is an accomplished climber and continues to improve his time trial skills to become an all-around talent.
