The world's best chocolate

spacer

Chocolate is here to stay, and with good reason. There are few things that can replicate the intense pleasure that comes from eating well-prepared chocolate.

On the other hand, terrible chocolate feels like a crime against nature - once, when I was living in chocolate, I made the mistake of buying chocolates at a promotional display in a supermarket. I didn't know what the sign was, but the seller assured me that the chocolate bars were fantastic, and they were so cheap (4 for 40 cents) that I bought them immediately.

I thought that I'd treat myself when I got home, after dinner, but, after the first bite, I felt like retching... the chocolate had the consistency of wax, no flavour other than pure sugar, and my immune system was struggling with this foreign substance.

I never ate the other three bars, though I tried to give them away.

To contrast, good chocolate makes you want to rip off your shirt and dive into the vat, letting your body become one with the magical liquid, hoping to be cut into 1 000 cubes, and served all across the world.

Well, maybe that's just me.

The best chocolate is an indistinct idea, but the Guardian still tried to pin it down.

They list 7 places to get incredible chocolate, including one in Grenada, where you can eat the result of the locally grown chocolate crop:

"4. Grenada Chocolate Company

One of my favourite places is the Belmont Estate in Grenada, where you can see the cocoa grown, fermented and dried. Down the road is the Grenada Chocolate Company, where, unusually, the beans are processed into bars rather than shipped off to be made elsewhere. This is because, along with growing organically and using solar power, they are committed to regenerating the cocoa-growing communities locally and providing jobs.

St Patrick's, Grenada, 001 473 442 0050; grenadachocolate.com; rococochocolates.com"

That's heavy stuff, man. I'd love to put all my savings into chocolate bars... with the scarcity of gold at the moment, chocolate seems like a better decision. You can't eat gold, after all.

Ok, so you can, but it won't give you that feeling of near-orgasm.

Chocolate pizza fun!

spacer
Chocolate pizza

Yes the chocolate pizza may not look like much to the unknowing observer, but do not be fooled! It is an absolutely delicious concoction! A must have for the chocolate lover! And so easy to make, that even the kids can do it! I think it is basically every kids dream. Chocolate and marshmallows on a pizza! Who wouldnt want to try a piece!? I think even the most sceptical would take a bite. I think the bananas are an essential part of the chocolate pizza as the banana taste seems to somewhat counteract the *too much sugar* possibility, however, another good alternative is to use strawberries when they are in season. Pizza never looked so sweet!

Chocolate chip and honeycomb cookies!

spacer
Chocolate chip and honeycomb cookies!

These cookies are SO amazingly delicious! And they were made by a happy chance when I had a craving for cookies as well as honeycomb, and decided to combine the two ideas together. What I love about these cookies, besides the taste, is their lovely gooey texture. I kept trying to think *Mrs Fields*! And I think that must really be the key! Thinking soft gooey cookie thoughts whilst cooking! Haha

Chocolate mud cupcakes

Chocolate mud cupcakes

These cupcakes are simple to make and deliciously chocolatey! They're also perfect for those insatiable chocolate cravings! And the best thing about these chocolate cupcakes is, even if you undercook them for a minute or so, its still A-okay because that just means the chocolate centre will be that much gooey-er!

Choc-chip slice squares!

spacer

Have you got a chip on your shoulder? Maybe you fell over whilst walking on flat ground and everyone turned and gave you a look and made you feel like a fool? Maybe you fell off a seat on the bus when you were half asleep and everyone around you laughed? Or maybe you think your course coordinators have it in for you, and are determined to make it hard for you, no matter what? If any of these apply, then maybe you need a Choc-chip slice square! It is loaded with chips, so maybe youll be able to relate! Haha

Chocolate rum and raisin slice

Chocolate rum and raisin slice

*Pinch and a punch for the first day of the month* So today is indeed the 1st day of November and also the day after Halloween. I think we had just a handful of trick-o-treaters yesterday which is kind of sad and non-fun really.. Why cant Halloween be big in Australia!? Why? Goodness knows the more holidays the merrier!

Chocolate & pine nut macaroons

spacer
Chocolate & pine nut macaroons

Surprise! Just when you thought the great chocolate day had been forgotten again, here it is to save the week:Chocolate & pine nut macaroons! Drenched with sweet, rich, chocolate and pine nut goodness. The sweet smell of chocolate that wafts from the oven while youre baking this is SO irresistible! You just want to bottle it up and be able to smell it whenever youre feeling a tad blue. The texture of these macaroons is also quite puzzling. On the one hand they are crunchy (due to the pine nuts) and yet they are sort of moist as well. Aah! The mysteries of life!

Addictive Chocolate truffle tart

spacer
Chocolate truffle tart!

I think its time to bring back Chocolate day! After all, whats a week without at least one chocolate day! Not much fun I should think. And what better way to celebrate this great new resurgence than with Chocolate truffle tart. Its not only delicious but its really addictive too! Its just SO good! And the taste? Well, it is light, moist, chocolatey, sweet, rich (but surprisingly not as rich as I would have expected with all the chocolate in it) and just, really satisfying. Probably because it is about 90% chocolate, 10% flour. Haha.
