Arrests continue in Murphy, Texas sting
Over a period of four days (November 2nd-5th), 21 individuals arrived at our sting house operation. Ranging from a teacher with over 23 years experience to retired law enforcement to... well, you know the drill! It was a steady drumbeat of predators arriving and being arrested.
This sting saw more predators openly deterred than any we have done prior. Still, 21 predators over a four day period is far too many. The epidemic, while somewhat stemmed at least in Texas, is still going strong in general.
In a quasi-related case during the serving of search and arrest warrants on those who did not arrive, Assistant District Attorney Louis W. Conradt Jr of Rockwall County, Texas was one of the individuals during the sting that solicited one of our decoys sexually. While he did not come to the sting house, his home along with others was served by search and arrest warrants. Conradt Jr. would not open his home to the police and upon an insertion team breaching his home, he shot himself rather than face justice for his actions. It is unfortunate that he chose this end rather than to have his day in court.
Since the sting operation weekend, at least two more arrests of predators have taken place with arrest and search warrants served at their homes, bringing the current known total of arrests stemming from this operation to 23 so far.
We're very pleased with the results of this sting operation, we'd like to thank the Murphy Police Department and all other law enforcement units, city, county and state, who helped make this large-scale sting possible. We have now aided the arrest of over 260 people just thus far in 2006 alone. This sting was filmed by Dateline NBC for a future episode of "To Catch a Predator", we will announce the air-date as soon as one is decided upon.

Nine of these individuals were over the age of 40 with this sting having the most 50 and over individuals of any we've done in recent memory. Remember, these people were coming for kids aged 12-14 for the purposes of sex. Disturbing thought indeed. Included amongst these individuals is a teacher of 23 years and a retired law enforcement official.
All about the debate over the sting
Recently a debate between Xavier Von Erck of our organization and Mayor Baldwin of Murphy, Texas aired on the nationally known O'Reilly Factor. Baldwin and Von Erck clashed directly on the properness of the recent Murphy, Texas sting. However, Mayor Baldwin committed the ultimate sin: Spinning on the "No-Spin Zone." We've compiled a list of inaccuracies and spin the Mayor threw out there for your perusal: Mayor Baldwin's inaccuracies and spin on the Factor. Please have a read.
Related to the Murphy sting, we've posted a new PeeJ Opinions article. Entitled "A Problem They Don't Have?" we look at the reaction of a select some of the townsfolk of Murphy, Texas. We have dealt with ignorance before, but never this level of utter and complete ignorance. Please feel free to have a read of our response to pure and unadulterated ignorance. Yes, there are some really, really clueless people in the world who would apparently wish to see predators be free to operate in their town. You have to read it to believe it, you really do.
To aid that end, we've put together a cross-section of quotes from the minority band of Murphy citizens wailing regarding sexual predators being arrested, as well as telling quotes and lies from the lone city councilman and Mayor trying to whip them into a frenzy for political gain. Entitled Welcome to the quotes of Bizarro, Texas, it's a must read for anyone concerned about a cabal of people trying to undermine their local police department.
