At 5′4, and given her weight of 185 pounds and a BMI of 31.8, Carolyn fell into the obese category and knew changes had to be implemented to execute successful natural weight loss and keep it off. Carolyn’s younger brother succumbed at the age of 45, due to complications of morbid obesity.

Having tried every “diet” program, Carolyn knew that weight loss was possible, but also knew that those pounds would reattach themselves, and bring along a few more.  She created and executed solutions that would last and promote weight loss the natural way by incorporating detoxing, juicing, and raw foods. I’m Carolyn Akens, raw food educator, chef, health coach, and speaker. I know from personal experience that it is not your intention to become overweight or obese, especially morbidly obese! Personally, I know that 5 to 10 pounds can easily sneak up on you, then 15, and then the next thing you know, you’ve got 60 pounds or more of extra weight. My younger brother succumbed to morbid obesity; he was 45 and left a wife, three children and siblings. He had many health problems that are attributed to morbid obesity. Any form of obesity is not necessarily hereditary; it is what we put in our mouth!

•Can you imagine you or your loved one walking only a very short distance because the cartilage is no longer there and the bones in your knees are rubbing bone on bone?

After losing my brother, I knew I had to make some drastic changes and became my first client over three years ago when I weighed 185 pounds

(before weight loss and after weight loss); my weight was evenly proportioned and I convinced myself that nothing was wrong and it was the day-to-day hazard of being a chef (I wasn’t a raw chef at that time). This was a poor assumption on my part because I am 5′4, and given my weight of 185 and my BMI…I fell into the obese category. I now weigh 125 pounds and I look and feel phenomenal!
