About

This is my satellite dish pointing site using a mashup of Google Maps. The idea to do this actually occured to me a few years ago but only recently did I start playing around with Google Maps and creating mashups in my spare time. I hope people will find it useful and spread the word. When I posted this tool on my UK blog (www.uksatellitehelp.co.uk), over 40,000 people used it in just under 3 weeks. So, I think it’s on the right track. But if you’ve any questions or comments, just drop me a line.

Allan, I would like to answer Vlad’s question.

“d is the distance to an obstacle and h the maximum height the obstacle can be without interfering with the signal (measured from the base of the dish). You can click and drag the obstacle marker.”

This was clipped from Allans Uk site.

    Hi Alan,
    Great job, thank you.
I cant get in what is geographic coordinates input format.
String input like 40.3234N, 30.1234E does not work.
    Thank you in advance

    Sergej:
I’ve entered the same string and it worked – put me straight to a place close to Istanbul. You can leave N and E out as both are positive.

    Hi Alan again,
Thank you for an instant reply!
It was my mistake cos I entered comma between coordinates.
    Good luck!
