About Me
First of all, let me just say, “THANK YOU!” for checking out my blog! After finding so many amazing blogs that I frequent on a daily basis, I decided to write my own as a way to interact with the blog community and as a way of figuring out “ME.” I’ll pass on any tips, tricks, or insights I figure out. We all need all the help we can get, right??? I’m no expert, but I do love sharing and learning new things. Hope you find something helpful here & that I can learn something from you, too!
A little about me . . . I’m a web writer/editor, working mostly from home, which can be a nice perk, although sometimes I have to force myself out into the “real world” for human contact and, you know, to be sure I shower.
I’m a lifelong runner, but a nasty knee injury sidelined me for several years after doctors told me I couldn’t run anymore. I actually listened, which is totally out of character for me! But when my co-workers started buzzing about a race they had all signed up to run, I was itching to run again. I started out slowly–very slowly. But bit by bit, I managed to build up my strength, increasing my mileage and eventually my pace. And now? I run half marathons! Considering I thought I’d never run again, it’s a pretty big deal to me, something I’m very proud of. Now, I run almost every day and appreciate the fact that I am able to do so!
Cooking happens to be one of my very favorite things to do and I LOVE trying new recipes. I’m a bit of a Food Network junkie, but I also get inspired by things I read online & in magazines as well as dishes I see on menus when eating out. I have so much fun playing in the kitchen! I try to eat healthfully as often as possible. I just feel so much better when I do! However, sometimes it’s hard to stop eating when the food tastes so good! (Anyone else have this problem???)
Finally, I am always on the lookout for simple things that bring me everyday happiness. In this crazy world, it’s important not to lose sight of the “small stuff.”

I really enjoyed reading this, Melissa! I completely agree with what you said about exercise. Looking forward to learning from your blog
I love your blog, Melissa!! It’s so upbeat and informative. I’m definitely with you on the Jackie Warner full body workout…even when I’m cursing her, I’m loving her. And I can’t wait to try Bethenny’s yoga…and watch her show. Yay!! Mostly I love the recipes since you know I can’t cook, but really want to (w/o bothering the hubby). Congrats!
Awe, thanks Linds! Hopefully I’ll be able to give you some relatively easy recipes you can do for yourself when he’s working!
Your blog is so cute! Glad I came across it
Thanks, Lisa! Nice to meet you!

Hi, Melissa! I just found your blog, and I love it! Just wanted to say hi! Virginia sounds gorgeous; I’ve always wondered if I belong there! I’m originally from Texas, used to live in Russia where we had 4 seasons, and now I live in California. I miss the four seasons! Although, California isn’t too shabby. Glad I found you!
Hi Kristen! I’m so glad you found me, too! It’s so cool that you’ve lived so many places! Virginia is beautiful; I honestly love living here! I’m excited to check out your blog now, too!
Hi Melissa!! I totally agree that it’s important not to lose sight of the small stuff even in this crazy world!
Hey Melissa! I also live in VA and just started a blog! Glad to know there are others in the area and that you love it here. I’ve been here for 15 years, but moved to a more rural area two years ago to live on my husband’s farm. I hope you’ve been able to truly explore VA; there are so many awesome areas to see!
It sounds like we have a lot in common and I look forward to reading more on your blog!!

Hi Melissa! Just came over from Carrots ‘N Cake because I saw that you’re from Michigan & moving back here soon. I’m in the metro Detroit area, and I blog over at On the Road Again about running, teaching, and preparing to be a mom.
It’s always nice to see fellow Michigan runners in the Blog World! Another local blogger (also named Megan) and I are working on getting Michigan bloggers together soon for a meet-up. We’d love to have you if you’re back in town soon!
YAY! I’d love that! I’m totally up for it! I’ll be back in Michigan after this week, so let me know what you decide on and I’ll be there if I can.

I grew up in South Lyon (near Ann Arbor) I see you’re moving back to MI – have a safe move. I left after college and went to NY, then Houston TX – now I live in Trinidad. Crazy right? It’s fun, different and exciting! If you feel like it – head on over and check out my blog! I post all about recipes, fitness, whatever’s on my mind, surfing, etc… xoxo from Trinidad
