About
Hi! Thank you for reading The Dawn Chapel, I’m pretty excited that you’d want to! I started doing this comic in the fall of 2009, with the objective of just doing a comic page a week to try to teach myself how to tell stories visually and see if I could keep a regular update schedule. I shoot for updates on fridays but as often as not, I am late and wind up posting later on the weekend. Some people are pretty good at getting their comic out according to a regular schedule; I am not one of them.
I don’t know, should I write something else here? How about a faq? I guess people like those?
Haha this is a pretty funny comic and — whoa wait there sure are lot of talking animal people. Is.. is this a furry comic? I think I got betrayed
Yeah this comic is usually pretty furry, but not aways. If I feel like talking animal characters work with whatever the comic is, they’re probably gonna be there.
Does this mean that you are a furry? I don’t think I am okay with that.
Oh man, totally. I don’t have like a costume or anything, but I do draw loads of weird furry art and I’ve been active in the furry crowd for years before I started this project. I don’t even have the good sense to be embarassed about it anymore.
I’ll try to leave the weirdness out of the comic, though! I mean, the bad weird, anyway. I don’t wanna freak nobody out that I don’t have to.
If I still like this comic does.. does that make me a furry? :(
Not necessarily, I guess? I don’t know, ain’t everybody who liked Star Wars got to wear a stormtrooper uniform, you know? I’m not gonna rat you out to your friends for liking my comic, if you’re worried.
Wait, I don’t understand, what is a furry?
If you are reading this comic and you are asking this question, you are probably my mom, and I love you but I am not prepared to have this conversation with you
Can I commission you to draw a thing?
Yes, absolutely! Commission information can be found here.
Howcome the prices on your originals are so weird?
I tend to price my original artwork based on how willing I am to let go of it, rather than an objective assessment of how much it’s “worth.” If I don’t really want to sell something, I’ll price it so high that if it does wind up selling, I won’t be too upset about it.
Why is this comic called The Dawn Chapel? There is nothing morningy or churchy about it.
When I started doing this comic I had registered the url dawnchapel.com for another project that I never got around to starting, and rather than spend the money to register a new url (and have to think up a title for this comic) I figured I’d just use what I already had. It is probably the dumbest way to name a webcomic; and if it is the dumbest way to name a webcomic (like, if there’s an objective review board or whatever that is able to confirm that this is the dumbest way to name a webcomic), I would like a prize.
I have another question that is not answered here; this is a problem and you should do something.
Ask me!
