Atlas Watches The Snow

the cats  Posted by Sara / 6 comments

Well, winter may have finally come for us! We had some snow yesterday, it’s -13° outside today, and the snow has stayed on the ground without any grass peeking through! Atlas had fun watching it and I had fun watching him.

January 2011 in Film

Olympus OM-1n / Zuiko 50mm 1.8  Posted by Sara / 14 comments

When my mother handed down her Olympus OM-1n, there was a fresh roll inside, and last January I finally got around to using it, and only last week I finally dropped it off. Last year I made a resolution to shoot 12 rolls of film (one a month) and then develop them once a month the following year. It didn’t really work out like I had planned, I was so busy with other projects that I think I only shot one and a half. But I took this one in to be developed anyway, and I was really pleased to see how the photos turned out. (Click on them to see larger versions.) There is also a roll in the Canon AE-1 one I picked up last August and it has six shots already used, so I’m kind of curious to see what’s on there.

Oh, and one more thing! The photos are paired together because they were right next to each other on the roll, and so they were scanned in together. But when I looked at them after, I really liked that they were paired with each other, so I left it!

These photos were taken with my mum’s Olympus OM1-n “Clementine”, and a Zuiko 50mm 1.8.

The Beginning of September

Canon 35mm 1.4 / Canon EOS 7D / Spurred  Posted by Sara / 9 comments

Did everyone have a good weekend? Ours was fairly good, but Tom came down with a fever of 102 last Tuesday night and was 101 today. (It broke on Friday but came back Saturday night. We’ll be visiting the clinic today! Just so you don’t think I’m a horrible wife or anything! GEE.) It was a very laid back week of eating light and taking it easy for both of us. Today is also my sister Kait’s (who visited in December) birthday, and we talked for a while this morning. I just can’t believe how fast the years are going. You know how they say the years go by faster and faster the older you get? I really think that’s the truth. I’d like to make an effort to slow down, in life in general and in work.

(Are you ready for a Spurred update? =P )

Last year when I did my vegan challenge in September I checked out three vegan cookbooks from the library, and haven’t borrowed any since. To celebrate the healthiest year of my life, I went and checked out some more.

I left a note for myself to do a photo like this of Atlas with my feet in the frame because I have one of Morn and Pumpkin just like it, and I thought it would be nice to have one of Atlas too.

Their Favorite Places

I thought today we’d visit a few of the cats’ favorite spaces, aside from the cat tree. Pumpkin will sit like this, hanging over your arm, while you work on the computer. He purrs lightly and will often drop his chin down to rest on your wrist. (I like that last photo of Pumpkin because he looks like he’s up to something sinister.)

Atlas claimed the back of our BCC (big comfy chair) when he was just a wee kitten. He is the only cat that lounges there and if he’s not hanging out with a person or another cat, he can be found there, tucked between the back of the chair and the top of the cushion.

Morn is usually on someone. If however, he is not on someone, he’s on the cat tree, or he’s stolen your seat. He’s a ninja like that. You can’t get up to do anything or he’ll suddenly have been just where you were sitting. And he’ll look so comfortable you’d think he’d been there for hours. And then of course you don’t want to move him, so I suspect that’s his plan all along.
