Exactly 29 days ago, it was 2012’s first Friday the 13th. They say it’s an unlucky day. I don’t really believe in superstitions so I took no precautions whatsoever for this event. In fact, I actually enjoyed my Friday the 13th! I had super duper fun that I thought to make this a “How To” post so that you guys can also take pleasure in this unfortunate day (as they say). But of course, this is only for amusement ;)

1. Go on a Road Trip

Just because it’s widely known as the ‘unlucky-i-might-get-hit-by-a-truck’ day, doesn’t mean you have to stay cooped up inside your room. Go out, just drive and bring a friend along!

2. Try New Food

Whether it’s an unlucky day or not, it’s always nice to try something new. In our case, we went to try Chateau Hestia which was a pleasant and cozy garden restaurant.

It’s a vintage cash register! I so badly wanted to take it home, too bad I can’t touch it.

For starters we had the Salad Nicoise and Forest Mushroom Soup. Both are delectably delicious! To tell you the truth, I had no idea what ‘nicoise’ meant nor how it is pronounced. So with the help of my friend, Google, I found out that it is an edible variety of olive with a rich flavor and it is pronounced as nee-SWAHZ. Can you try saying it? Haha!

Then we had Chicken Geschnetzeltes “Zurich-Style” which I also don’t know how to pronounce. It was also super yummy. Being the Filipino in me, I wanted rice with this one. Perfect ulam! And for dessert, we had Cioccolato Soufflé! I love chocolate, period.

3. Explore Nature

We went around the restaurant and look at what we found! A forbidden bridge, a blue door and lovely foliage.

Here’s one of the outfits from ‘A Bright Idea’ Shop Dainty x My Cup of Tea Collaboration. I love the idea of wearing hats and socks on shoes. They told me that our peg is Mayo Wo. I haven’t heard of her since but when I checked her lookbook, I fell in love with her style. Oh so colorful!

Don’t you just love the blue, yellow and purple color combo on this outfit? It’s beyond color blocking!

I love how this purple skirt hugs my body in the right places. The waist part is garterized which means I can eat a lot and not worry on whether my tummy will get squished by it. Oh! And this is still available at the shop. Definitely a steal for Php 300 ;)

OMG OMG OMG! I’m totally spazzing right now! As I was browsing through StyleBible.Ph’s website to check out the latest trends, I saw a familiar face on the left side of my screen (see photo below). I had to blink a couple of times because I had make sure that it was me I was seeing.

After clicking on my photo, in big bold letters it said “MY STYLE STAR JANUARY 2012”. My initial reaction was, “Whaaat?! You’ve got to be kidding me!” After a while I calmed down and browsed through the other nominees and I felt giddy seeing my photo next to The Bargain Doll, Wicked Ying, Fashion Eggplant and Hurricane Kitty. I’m glad they chose my Luxe Grunge outfit because I got a lot of compliments from that one plus I felt extra pretty that night.

I have friend back in high school named Jerick Sanchez. Amazingly, he has made it big in the fashion industry now. Looking back, we never would’ve thought that we’d be living the lives that we are now. I’m proud that he has become an established photographer. Aside from this, he is also the creative director of ZONE Magazine.

The ZONE Magazine is a bi-monthly online magazine that envisions itself to be a platform showcasing excellent works of various artists. Encompassing different field like fashion, lifestyle and art, ZONE particularly aims to reach out and help new budding talent in establishing a firm hold on their respective industries just by being accessible outlet for their creative outputs.
