London - it's all about the details. This is one city where it pays to take a close second look. Welcome to London on Skiponover.com, by Jill Browne.

Have you tried the Boris bikes?

August 17th 2010 00:17
I've read about the Boris bike scheme, and in principle it sounds great.

The idea of picking up a bike cheaply for a short ride has some appeal.

I gather the bikes themselves are a bit heavy (a bit? more than a bit?) and that you have to be careful to get one where the brakes don't stick.

Apart from that, and perhaps a shortage of docking stations in the early days, I hope the scheme is going well.

I was thrilled to read that the bikes are made in Canada. Sad to say it, but I didn't realize we still had a bike manufacturer left here.

Next time I'm in London, I want to try one.
