Considering the Angry Generations

August 3rd 2008 21:27

One of the luxuries of living in Alaska is that we can take time to reflect about life, you know, the big ticket things like what does the future hold in store for us, who is going to be in charge and how will it affect the future of the country, myself and family.

That future
may not be so rosy, due in part to some very diversely positioned individuals who are now at a societal cross road; one group consists of some very negative individuals that are hateful of what the US represents on the world stage, Ill call them Gen Xers and their road tends to run along liberal lines, and the other major group tends to run along conservative lines, many from this group are actively serving in the military, and doing so with honor and great courage whove lost faith, hope and innocence, they collectively make up what can best be described as the angry generation (911 era). These diverse groups are the offspring of the lost/confused generation (Vietnam era), these are the folks in charge now. You know, the Clintons, Bushs and the Kennedys et al

My Palestinian Heroine

A young Palestinian woman is my new heroine, her name: Salam.

What possible differences can a young woman, a female teenager in a passionate male dominated world affect? Can she change the heart and mindset of historically abused and war scarred people with her brilliant rhetoric, knowledge or simple action? Normally, Id say no, she cant

Thought Nazis

Why blog? I have been asking myself that very question for several weeks now and still, there isn't a satisfying answer.

I feel like the tyke on a bike; surrounded by thought nazis trying to impose their bullshit on me, all the while clamoring for equality and fair play: I hate bullies, mobs and mindless group think

Censorship vs Pedantic Hedonists

July 19th 2008 18:16
Orblers, recently the issue of censorship has been popping up. The point isn't fully about censorship, none of us advocate censorship, with the exception of self censorship; the self discipline to exercise the rules of common decency on Orble.

The idea is simply to keep controversial photos, icons or language off the home page and if that is the point of your blog, to use the not family friendly option prior to posting

Common Decency vs Censorship

July 18th 2008 00:23

There seems to be a concerted effort being made to see who can put up the most offensive photos and title content to draw attention to their blogs. We are collectively repulsed at the thought of censorship and yet laugh at anothers cry for decorum. Thats pathetic. We vie with one another in the public domain for attention and fans, but at what cost to our selves. Are we as writers so bereft of talent and imagination that all we can come up with is risqu photos and titles to attract readers? Its a question, not an indictment.

I have put my share of risqu photos up as the grabber for an article, having forgotten that under age kids have access to them because I dont share my home with any of them. Finally the fickle winds of fate whistled in; I had charge of some siblings visiting my home for a week or so and found genuine reason to censor some sites and my own work

A cure possible for the common cold . . .? Title is link.

The adenovirus is the number one cause of the common cold and can be deadly for organ transplant recipients; my brother is one of those recipients, so news like this hits home.

Deciphering the Control Panel Options: a beginners guide

At some point in time, we all go temporarily insane with ambitious dreams and decide to dress up our Blog(s) a bit. Concerning this matter sage advice would be to finish obtaining your PhD; itll be quicker, easier and eminently more satisfying in the long run. If, however your obsession is indeed over whelming, heres what I discovered while passing through that perversity of common sense
