Louis Vuitton Press Animals

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Chameleon Visual takes me under their wing again as I make some larger and more exciting bag animals for Louis Vuitton.

These new critters were designed for the launch of Louis Vuitton’s Mon Monogram service for small leather goods. Each animal highlights an element in the design of the products. The Armadillo was to highlight the soft yet durable quality of the leather. The Chameleon displays the variety of colour. The Grasshopper is constructed from products with zips and poppers that make satisfying noises like that of the musically gifted insect. And finally my favorite, the Beaver, who’s functionality chops wood, builds dams…and provides cleaver ways of organising ones life in men’s bags and wallets.

Giant Shoes

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

spacer

A really fun job for Blind Summit, some giant woman’s shoes for Royal Academy Opera’s premier production of ‘Kommilitonen.’ Carved from poly-foam, each shoe was 60cm from heal to toe.

‘Kommilitonen’ is performing at Sir Jack Lyons Theatre from the 18th March 2011.

Louis Vuitton Animals

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

spacer

Earlier this year I was approached by Chameleon Visual to produce some very unique creatures. I was commissioned to make 20 animals, presented in dome jars for the debut windows of Louis Vuitton’s New Bond Street Maison.

Each bespoke animal was carefully constructed out of genuine Louis Vuitton bags, purses and accessories.

Tunng – Bullets

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

spacer

One of my first jobs out of university was advising and assisting in the design and production of some very low budget special effects for a music video by Tom Haines for Tunng’s ‘Bullets’.

Tom came to me with the idea of creating a spinning satellite of junk in space. My inital job was to work out a way of achieving this on very little budget. After lost of uncertainty of whether or not the job would go ahead, plans went into action and a team of students from Tech Arts at Wimbledon College of Art came together to make it happen.

Every one had a hand in gathering the masses of retro junk it took to cover the satellite, which was extremely heavy when finished and took a lot of man power to spin in front of the blue screen. A second structure was made that allowed us to huddle inside to operate rudimentary puppets and make objects spin as if powered by the satellite.

‘Building Humans’ – Paper Skeleton

Thursday, October 7th, 2010

spacer

Working under the artistic direction of Three Muses, commissioned by ‘The Sine Star Project‘ for their album ‘Building Humans’ but unfortunately never used. The life-size skeleton was constructed from tracing paper and where that was too flimsy, a flexible plastic substitute. It’s lungs were constructed from transparent mung bean noodles set in PVA. It also has a glowing heart, a light bulb inside a tracing paper, origami, ‘stellated icosahedron’, or to you and I – star.
