The CSREES Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a unique program that currently operates in all 50 states and in American Samoa, Guam, Micronesia, Northern Marianas, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands.   

 

 

MISSION AND GOAL
EFNEP is designed to assist limited-resource audiences in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary for nutritionally sound diets, and to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being. 

We provide FREE NUTRITION LESSONS to families and youth to help improve their quality of life by learning:
·     Basic concepts of food and nutrition
·     Buying skills
·     Meal planning
·     Food safety
·     Food Resource management

PARTNERING AGENCIES
Utah EFNEP complements services provided by other agencies. We network with Utah State University Extension, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed), Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Program, Head Starts, Young Mothers Program for teenage mothers, Utah Workforce Services, social services, food pantries, and youth programs, such as boys and girls club.
