Launching the Public Beta

Posted on January 1, 2011 by Justin Tanner

TuckDB is the first on-line database of Raphael Tuck & Sons postcards. We are happy to announce the public beta and open the site to the general public. The website remains very much a work in progress with many listings incomplete. Instead of waiting we have decided to open the site now to solicit feedback from the Tuck postcard collecting community.

The Current Listings
The Americas is the first edited tag in our listings. We are beginning an editing sweep of the remaining cards, completing it will take years.

Scanning Postcards
We have several helpers scanning postcards & have finished this first edition of The Americas which represents about 10% of the total scanning.

The Future
During this beta our postcards scanners will continue to scan and upload postcards. The next focus will probably be on The Tuck Postcards of Lance Thackeray.

For those collectors interested in contributing to the database we are considering allowing everybody to edit postcards and upload pictures. If you are interested please send us some feedback

Where can I find the most complete list of “In Dickens Land” Oillette cards? Does anyone know how many different cards were produced?

I have a copy of ‘The Kings Book’ published by Raphael Tuck and Sons Ltd.

Does this book have any value at all? Is it worth having a valuation on it?

    Many thanks

I have paintings by Walter Whitfield which were painted in the early 1900s. He married my Grandmother in the 1960s and they were together for about 15 years. Sorry I havent definite dates as yet. The reason for this email is we understand he worked for Raphael Tuck or had some connection with them. Do you have any knowledge of people employed or who did the paintings for their work?
    Kind Regards Pauline Lamont
