WSJ Tablet Edition

The Wall Street Journal Tablet Edition is one of the best digital newspaper Xoom apps on the market. Unlike so many other apps for the new Android tablets, this isn’t simply a port of the smartphone version. The WSJ Tablet Edition for Android got a complete makeover so that it now takes full advantage of the additional screen real estate. The app also makes the reading experience convenient in other ways. For starters, it downloads complete papers, allowing you to store them on your device. That way, you can keep them as long as you like and you don’t have to worry about a connection constantly.

Another excellent feature of this WSJ Xoom app is the control it gives you when setting bookmarks and favorites. For those with a subscription, it also makes things easy by auto-downloading the newest edition of the paper. And that downloading doesn’t interfere with the experience, so you can begin reading as soon as you start the app. The Android version is missing some of the integrated media features that are so popular on the iPad version, such as the stock ticker. Hopefully WSJ adds these as the Android app becomes more sophisticated. Nevertheless, this app is a joy to use and a must-have if you’re a WSJ reader.
