Will Apple Continue to Sell the iPad 2?

This week Nathaniel Mott wrote a fantastic piece about the possible future pricing of the iPad going forward into 2012. He speculated that it was likely that Apple would continue to sell the iPad 2 alongside the next iPad, despite the fact that the original iPad was quickly phased out.

What do you think?

Are you of the opinion that Apple is happy enough with the iPad 2 to keep it in the lineup, just as the iPhone 3GS, and 4, are still made and sold. Is the argument that their movement towards education makes the iPad 2 a great candidate for a price-drop a compelling one? Will they continue to sell the iPad 2 well into 2012 and beyond?

Feel free to get involved and leave a comment, perhaps say how long you expect the iPad 2 to stick around for! It’s all conjecture, but it gives you bragging rights if you’re on the money…

Remember last year when the Tapbots team introduced a new kind of Twitter app for the iPhone titled Tweetbot? It had a revolutionary user interface, unique sounds for actions performed, and many exclusive features that other clients just didn’t offer at the time.

The app allowed you to do more with Twitter than you ever thought was possible by taking the API to its full potential. Many users saw it as the next Tweetie for iPhone, with even more enhanced features. Our own Matthew Guay recommended that you switch to the fresh Twitter client last April.

Yesterday, Tapbots introduced Tweetbot for iPad and brought the entire experience to Apple’s tablet. Now you’re probably wondering, is it as revolutionary as the original iPhone app was? Keep reading to find out!

If the past is any indicator we’re coming up on the iPad’s next refresh. While we didn’t get a so-called Retina Display with the iPad 2, my gut (and other’s brains) lead me to believe that we’ll get something this year that can fill that hole in many people’s hearts.

Instead of discussing how this might affect users or developers, I want to take a look at how this will affect everyone, through one simple factor: price.

Comic Zeal: Reclaim Your Comic Books

The iPad is a wonderful device for consuming digital comics, but there are several caveats. Most comic apps allow the user to purchase comics, but these comics are restricted to said apps. This means that the comic connoisseur may have to use several applications to view his or her comics. The user is faced with several different reading experiences and is stripped of any ability to meticulously organize his or her collection. Organization is a large part of comic book collecting, and comic books lose their magic when the ability to organize is taken away.

Comic Zeal by Bitolithic helps comic book fanatics to reclaim their libraries. The app allows users to manage their collection and completely customize their reading experience. Can any app provide the same satisfaction as delicately turning a page or carefully sealing a valuable Superman in plastic? Read on to find out.

Wi-Fi or 3G?

A simple question this week, following on from my earlier musings on whether a 3G iPad is really necessary. I’d like to ask the question; is a 3G iPad worth it for you?

This isn’t a poll on what you currently have, but rather an enquiry into whether you think getting a 3G iPad is worth it for you personally – would get get enough use from the service to make the extra initial cost, and contract, pay its way?

If you’re a frustrated user of a Wi-Fi only iPad then feel free to lodge your irritation and wish for a 3G enabled iPad. Conversely, if you’re a 3G iPad owner who wishes they hadn’t spent the extra money then get involved! Leave a comment below if there’s something specific you’d like to mention.

Is 3G worth it for you simply die to the addition of GPS? Or are you perfectly happy with tethering as you have your iPhone on you all the time? Do you prefer the simplicity of a 3G iPad?

Whatever your answer, feel free to give reasons in the comments!
