The Former and the Latter

As far as I could remember, when we were in 1st year high school, we were asked to read this very tricky yet interesting poem. It really challenged me to think as deep as the words used. Try to answer them without looking at your dictionaries. spacer

The Former and the Latter

Is Florescent same with Fluorescent?
No, for the former means “blooming”
Like Complement as to Compliment
Wherein the former means the full number required to complete something

Is Climactic synonymous with Climatic?
No. for the latter pertains to weather conditions.
What if we add something to the confusion…
Perhaps, Climacteric will do the trick.

If I may ask, would you rather be Complaisant or Complacent?
I am not Compelling you, just Impelling you…
Think about it, have your own view.

Do you Constantly or Consistently do things?
Is it regularly, persistently, or unceasingly?
Or is it a manner that is not contradictory,
Something that which is done without change?

Some say: “To err is human and to forgive is Divine.”
But why not walk the line?
Try to know when to use Sometime and Some time;
Instead of coal, dig gold in the mine.
You may ask, “Why bother?”
As if the difference of Et.al and Et.als matters…
To tell you, it does. The latter is erroneous;
Just like the way we choose the words we use.

Have a happy day! spacer

Another Not-so-Perfect Plan

I can’t believe it. This will be my last blog post for this year. I’m still in awe of the good things, as well as the bad things, that had happened in my life.

2011, I believe is a very productive year. Through God’s grace and provision, we have moved in a better place. What’s good is, it’s very accessible. Then, I was able to continue attending a Bible School. 2011 was also a fun year with my students in the Sunday School. Aside from these, I had finished reading two books. Also, I had met new classmates and friends.

So before the clock strikes at 12, I just want to share to you my not-so-perfect plan for the coming year 2012 spacer and oh! Please help me eliminate some unnecessary details. Thanks spacer

spacer

I.SPIRITUAL
A. Read the Bible everyday. (Not just reading, but meditating)
B. Prepare lesson plans for Sunday School and have something special for my babies at least every month
C. Continue attending Bible School
D. Memorize three verses a day
E. Attending cell group regularly
F. Finish Discipleship Lesson 2

II.CAREER
A. Work on my assignments haha
B. Be on time! spacer
C. Explore things. Learn everything I can.

III.PHYSICAL
A. Tanggalin ang bigote bwahahaha spacer
B. Eat more fruits and vegetables spacer
C. Take Vitamins
D. Daily exercise
E. Jogging with cell group members

IV.INTELLECTUAL
A. Finish 1 inspirational/good book at least once every quarter
B. Memorize 5 songs a month
C. Watch a good movie once a month
D. Read in advance the lessons on all my subjects
E. Learn new Christian Songs every week

V.RELATIONAL
A. Have a date with my boyfriend: JESUS, at least once a week
B. Cook food for my family
C. Be more intentional
D. Invite more friends and family to church every Sunday
E. Set a movie day with family and friends
F. Meet new friends
G. Set a day out with the Girls’ Cell Group spacer at least once a month
H. Lunch out with sisters
I. Visit cousins and other relatives occasionally

But, as what is written in Proverbs 16:9, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps”.

spacer

My prayer is this: May God’s will be done.

Everything will be meaningless if not done for His GLORY.

Happy New Year!

A Night Out with Sister

Last night, I have decided to invite my sister, Rachel, to have dinner with me. I actually never tried inviting her before (maybe because of pride). What I love about her response the most is that when she said this: “Sure. We haven’t had our quality time before (Of course, this one was said in Filipino spacer haha)”. I really find her answer very sweet.

I never actually imagined she would say that. But my bad. I underestimated her; her sweetness and kindness. I guess I should become more intentional from this day on. I miss her. I miss my family even though we’re always seeing each other and even though we are all leaving in just one roof.

I thank my God who has always been faithful to me. I believe it was His plan for me to have an opportunity to share my love to my sister.

We enjoyed the night so much. Here are some photos:

Feliz Navidad!

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” – Luke 2:10-12

I believe it’s not yet too late to greet everyone a merry merry Christmas. Let me take this opportunity to thank everyone of you- my readers, followers via Facebook, Networked Blogs, Twitter, Google + Circle Friends. Thanks you so much for the support you are giving to me, and of course, the friendship.

spacer

This Christmas, my prayer for is that you and your family may be  filled with love and hope all the days of your lives. Let us not forget the good things that God has done to us.

Just like what the verse is saying, “A SAVIOR HAS BEEN BORN”. Take this time, also, to thank God for sending His one and only child, JESUS, to save us from all our sins.

Again, merry Christmas to everyone. Enjoy the rest of the day! Keep Smiling. spacer

Leaders are Learners

The moment you stop learning, you stop leading.
- Rick Warren

spacer

This is one of my favorite quotations from Pastor Rick Warren. “Leaders are LEARNERS”. Once a person feels they have a firm grasp on all the answers, they have quit being teachable and will soon cease from leading. Their thoughts and methods will become dated, and eventually STALE. Good leaders are hungry for learning.

For the past few months, I was really trying my very best to become a good leader. I was assigned to be the committee head for a certain ministry. Most of the time, I found my self not confident with the decisions I made. Then I realized, I was not really leading them effectively. Maybe because I have stopped learning. I have stopped learning the Word of God, and I have stopped learning their personalities. As I take a higher goal this time, I should be preparing my self to be more teachable.

I believe everybody can lead. Let us just not forget these very words of Pastor Warren- “Leaders are Learners”.

“Wait” by Russel Kelfer

Below is poem borrowed from a brother in Christ. I just want to share this to all the girls (and even boys) out there, and encourage them to preserve themselves for Christ. I assume most of my readers, if not married, are in a relationship. May this poem help you in establishing a more Godly relationship. Let us remember that the most important relationship we could have is our relationship with the Father, the Creator, and the Almighty God.

May you be blessed as you meditate on the words. God bless your heart.

“Wait” by Russel Kelfer

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried;
Quietly, patiently, lovingly, God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate …
And the Master so gently said, “Wait.”

“Wait? you say wait?” my indignant reply.
“Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and I’m claiming your Word.

“My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to wait?
I’m needing a ‘yes’, a go-ahead sign,
Or even a ‘no’ to which I can resign.

“You promised, dear Lord, that if we believe,
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord I’ve been asking, and this is my cry:
I’m weary of asking! I need a reply.”

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate,
As my Master replied again, “Wait.”
So I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut,
And grumbled to God, “So, I’m waiting for what?”

He seemed then to kneel, and His eyes met with mine …
and He tenderly said, “I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead and cause mountains to run.

“I could give all you seek and pleased you would be.
You’d have what you want, but you wouldn’t know Me.
You’d not know the depth of my love for each saint.
You’d not know the power that I give to the faint.

“You’d not learn to see through clouds of despair;
You’d not learn to trust just by knowing I’m there.
You’d not know the joy of resting in Me
When darkness and silence are all you can see.

“You’d never experience the fullness of love
When the peace of My spirit descends like a dove.
You would know that I give, and I save, for a start,
But you’d not know the depth of the beat of My heart.

“The glow of my comfort late into the night,
The faith that I give when you walk without sight.
The depth that’s beyond getting just what you ask
From an infinite God who makes what you have last.

“You’d never know, should your pain quickly flee,
What it means that My grace is sufficient for thee.
Yes, your dearest dreams overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss, if you missed what I’m doing in you.

“So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
That the greatest of gifts is to truly know me.
And though oft My answers seem terribly late,
My most precious answer of all is still … Wait.”

Everything comes in time to him/her who knows how to wait.

I tell you, it’s WORTH the wait. <3

So, if i may encourage you today during your waiting period, however long it may be, take a deep breath in, be still  and wait patiently for the Lord, pray without ceasing. Involve Him in all your decisions and you will know a peaceful, patient path that will take you down roads of pure joy.

Importance of Friendship

John 21: 5
He (Jesus) called out to them, “Friends haven’t you any fish”

1 John 4:7
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

Today, my heart is stirred to talk about the importance of friendship. In the passages above, I was led to the conclusion that God is the most faithful friend you will ever have. God is with us all of the time. He is never too busy to spend time with us. Read more »

Join BC Bloggers!

I think I cannot count anymore the opportunities presented to my blog since the day I joined a group of bloggers in Facebook. I had the chance to interact with them and learned many things from their posts. Because also of the said group, I came across BC Bloggers which was organized by Mommy Paula. I was so interested about it since it is what every blogger needs!
