Attention:
Update #2 Friday,
August 26, 2011 12:30 pm
Dear MMC Community,
Due to the likely closure of the NYC transportation system
beginning on Saturday afternoon, the College will not hold our planned
Parent/Family Orientation and Reception originally scheduled on
Saturday, August 27 at 5 pm. While this may inconvenience some
families, health and safety are paramount.
Saturday move-in to the Residence Hall will continue as
scheduled from 7 am to 2 pm, but families should not
plan to move in during the hurricane on Sunday or Monday.
On Monday, August 29, 2011, the College's administrative
offices will be closed and all Orientation activities for the day are
cancelled.
Any questions regarding housing check-in should be directed to
the Office of Residence Life at 212 -774-0740. Any questions
about New Student Orientation should be directed to the Office of
Student Development and Activities at 212-774-0788.

Update #1Thursday,
August 25, 2011
Dear MMC New Students and Families,
Like all of you, we have been watching carefully the intensity and
track of hurricane Irene. The National Weather Service forecasts that
the storm may reach the New York metropolitan area as early as Saturday
evening, bringing tropical storm or hurricane force conditions which
can include heavy rain and strong winds.
In light of these expected conditions, the College has cancelled Sunday
student check-in and the Sunday Parent Orientation and Reception
scheduled for 2 pm. At our 55th Street Residence Hall, check in times
will begin an hour earlier at 7 am on both Friday and Saturday to allow
those of you who can to arrive before the brunt of the storm. If you
can only check in on Sunday, though we have officially cancelled the
move in, we will have staff available to assist. We will also be ready
for you if you can only move in sometime Monday or Tuesday. Please come
when it is most convenient and safe for your travel plans; It is not
necessary to contact Residence Life if you can arrive either on Friday
or Saturday. If you plan to check in on Monday or Tuesday, please email
Residence Life at residencelife@mmm.edu to let them know.
For those of you who had a Sunday move in date for 92Y, we encourage
you to delay your arrival to Monday or Tuesday. If you haven't heard
from us directly yet, please email residencelife@mmm.edu to solidify
your plans.
If Parents/Families have scheduled to attend the Parents and Family
Orientation and Reception on Sunday, August 28th, we invite you instead
to join us at one of our other receptions:
- Friday, August 26 at 5 pm
- Saturday, August 27 at 5 pm
- Thursday, September 1 at 4 pm
New Student Orientation, which is planned to begin on Monday, is still
scheduled with the understanding that some students may still be
arriving. We will welcome students whenever they come. Any questions
about New Student Orientation should be directed to the Office of
Student Development and Activities at 212-774-0788.
