New York, 1887. Put on your finest attire and join me onboard the steamboat “Lorelei.” Welcome to Sailor Twain, or The Mermaid in the Hudson. I’ll be updating with a new page every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, starting February 1st. Various extras will be appearing as we go. Starting now with a 10-page OVERTURE

Beautiful! Can’t wait!
Wonderful style…save a berth for me on the Lorelei; I’m hooked.
An auspicious beginning. I’m curious to see where this story is going. Speaking as someone who’s just starting my own “online graphic novel” – www.needcomics.com/The_Deuce/ – I’m very focussed on “the hook,” and it’s intriguing to see that you’ve fashioned a strong one. I like the art too– very economical and atmospheric. Good luck!
Was that tacky, putting a link to my own feature in my comment? I’m new to this sort of thing, so if so, please feel free to strike it.
Ken—nah, that’s fine I think! All best on your launch too.
This is great, Mark. Really looking forward to more Sailor Twain.

Fantastic! I can imagine this also as a print. But it works perfectly online as well. Is the story still in progress or have you finished it already?
It was a disappointment not being able to include the Flatiron in Twain’s Manhattan scenes! But it wouldn’t be built for another 15 years…
Patrick, the story is pretty fully scripted out. But I’ve only drawn five of about thirty chapters. And the script is designed to allow for some improv along the way.
Beautiful ! Absolutely wonderful art and the story itself and the storytelling are more than up to par with the standard the art has already set.
Thank you and good luck ,)
Hi Mark!,
your drawings are fantastic, I really like your stile.
Cheers
Sarah
I just found this series this afternoon, and I have devoured the entire thing. It seems as though it flew by too quickly, and now I can’t wait for the next installment! Great work.
