Film Class Explores Movies, Violent Women

The course, the first of its kind at LMU, seeks to identify ways that filmmakers rely on existing ideologies about gender in creating movies about women who fight, whether those conventions include the femme fatale, revenge fantasy, or shoot-’em-up action flick.

It’s the seventh year in a row that the number of high school seniors seeking admission to Loyola Marymount has set a new record for the university. Nearly 12,000 are looking to become one of just 1,250 freshmen who will begin their studies here in the fall.
