About

Call me Kilo. I also go by Josh in other places online, but I’m not going to be at the center of this blog, so I’d prefer to pretend I’m someone else.

Oh no! Here comes Kilo!

Why Kilo? Well, it is associated with weights, it will look good on a T-shirt, and it makes me feel like I’m a character from Shaft.

The Strength Rules

There are only two

1. Strength training should be fun

2. All progress–and everyone’s progress– is worth celebrating

Also, feel free to think of this blog as “Strength Rules!” or possibly even STRENGTH RULES!!!!!

Because, at the risk of sounding like a giddy teen…it does.

Me

I have spent the last 12 years strength training in one form or another. I’ve dabbled in bodybuilding, powerlifting, kettlebells, Crossfit, developed a deadlift obsession, and a whole bunch of other stuff that I thought was fun.

First and foremost, I’m just a fan of strength. I love it all. And what’s not to love?

I respect the female break dancer as much as the brute who squats 1000. I admire the arm-wrestling champion as much as the javelin thrower. Fighters, skiers, trapeze artists, the railroad worker who can swing a heavy hammer for 12 hours, and all the people packing the world’s gyms just for fun: they’re all family to me.

What you’ll get here

  • I’ll be writing about training of all types, as will my guests
  • Ditto for nutrition
  • I’ll post videos of anything strength-related that I believe is worth sharing
  • Anything and everything I can think of to celebrate the many ways in which humans test their physical potential
  • A non-discriminatory attitude: as far as I’m concerned, it’s all good and it’s all worth admiring. I have my own opinions about what’s best for me and my training, but I’m not going to point my finger in your face

What you won’t find

  • Ideology
  • Thunderous pronouncements about who’s right and who’s wrong – I just don’t care
  • HARDCORE NUDITY! (probably)
  • Me speaking of myself in the third person, as in “Kilo say he look dern good!”

Learn together and enjoy the company

I’ll be writing about my own training experiences, but I’ll be more interested in shedding light on anyone else I can find who is doing something worth noticing.

I just want to train, learn from whoever I can find, and have a good time. I invite you to do the same.

Kilo

Kilo, great idea! If I multiply you by 2.204 can you be converted to standard? I’ll be writing some nice posts if Kilo will have them.
