Vancouver Live Theatre: The Silicone DiariesThe Silicone Diaries is Nina Arsenault's tour de force account of her transition from an awkward man into a jaw dropping silicone bombshell, a process that spanned eight years, sixty surgical procedures and a lifetime of preparation. Blurring the lines between fake and real and playing with the tension between societys presumed desire for authenticity and its demonstrated preference for the artificial, The Silicone Diaries provides us with a peek into the personal obsessions of those who are driven to transform their bodies. At the same time, it is a frank exploration of the contradictions associated with the quest for beauty. 
Vancouver Live Theatre: HunchbackFrom the award-winning creators of Nevermore and Frankenstein. A darkly romantic musical set amid the buttresses and shadows of Notre Dame Cathedral, Hunchback tells the tale of a tormented priest, a beautiful dancer and the deformed bell ringer Quasimodo. Swept up in a vortex of lust, fear and the desire to control a destiny that will ultimately destroy them all, they are consumed by love in its most potent, merciless and obsessive form. This surprising new take on Victor Hugos famous story comes from the multi-award-winning creative team at Catalyst Theatre.
Vancouver Live Theatre: IgnoranceIgnorance is a puppet documentary about prehistoric humanity about the time when we lived in caves, before we invented Facebook, iPhones, or nagging senses of dissatisfaction. With much grunting, shrieking, and gnawing on bones, the Old Trouts will explain where we went wrong, and how we might find our way once again. This is the first attempt at what the Old Trouts are calling Open Creation: The entire show has been written on the web for all to read, comment, criticize, or contribute to. Vancouver Live Dance: EllesElles is the expression of choreographer Serge Bennathan s desire to be confronted once again by feminine strength, passion and depth. This work explores the visceral, raw physicality of women coming from different geographical points, bringing with them different approaches and languages of dance.
Vancouver Live Music: L'Orchestre d'Hommes-Orchestre Performs Tom WaitsArmed with the colourful repertoire of uncategorizable American music icon Tom Waits, Quebec Citys LOrchestre dHommes-Orchestres offer an event that is more of a carnival show or musical circus than just a concert. This bustling orchestra performs the music of Tom Waits using nearly 100 objects and invented instruments on stage. In this powerful tribute to the world of Waits, the performers remain faithful to the spirit of his work, but also turn it into a playing field for viewers. Mixing styles and adapting the arrangements, these six frenzied multi-instrumentalists perform in front of each other and over each other, trading instruments and vocals, putting their fingers between the strings and spokes in their wheels.
